    enclosure

Only a couple years old and already that bad? OK definitely keep up on the regular maintenance once you get this sorted. 210 is great stuff... for maintenance and normal cleaning. But from what you've written it sounds like you need more than regular cleaning. Strata is a vinyl product - so...

    enclosure

There's different types of "clear" enclosures. What type do you have? The real trick with caring for these is to not let it get so bad to start with and stay on top of keeping them clean and protected. And use the right products for the right enclosure material. For example, don't use Windex...

'89 era Seafarer 228 transom seat cushions

There's nothing special to making them look "original" and it won't mean anything for resale, either. It's just a plan cushion - nothing special. Of more importance, is to make them suit what YOU want. Cut a piece of cardboard to the size you want as a template and then get sewing! Take note...

    Engine Trim not working?

No, the trim rams won't go down right away. Not until the motor gets onto them. Edit: Or, the tile ram contracts. Since you have it on the support lever, go ahead and check the fluid level now. Describe when it worked last and how you got to this point where it's stuck. When was the last...

    Fuel Gauge

You didn't mention if you physically started with a full tank? Depending on how hard you were using the engine, it may not quite start dropping yet. Pop the access deck plate for the fuel sender and remove the pink wire. Give it a few seconds and the gauge (key on) should drop to zero.

Tie off line with a windlass?

When I'm way back in a protected cove on a calm day, I don't worry about cleating off. Heck, the weight of the rope, itself, is usually enough to keep the boat in place! Get a simple "clevis hook" from your local hardware store for your size chain. 5/16"? Tie a 10'-ish length of line to it...

Tie off line with a windlass?

In light conditions, it's fine to use the windlass - a judgement call is needed as to whether you perceive the "load" on the windlass to be too much. If the line is even getting close to staying pulled tight - I would cleat it off. If it stays relativley slack I wouldn't bother. Unless of...

    Steam from new engine...

What's that "creak" noise... what's that "crack" noise"... what's that "hissing" noise"... is the boat leaning over too much... is the boat supposed to do that... is the boat NOT supposed to that... Yeah... been there done that, my friend! ;) Do you know what the "fix" is for that state of...

    Steam from new engine...

Roughly speaking, the size of the engine doesn't dictate the heat since it's still being cooled and operated with a t-stat. Just a side note on that! :) A little bit of steam after run isn't too abnormal as the exhaust tube is still heated up and 1) it's more noticeable now that there isn't...

    Windlass Replacement

Did you try tightening the clutch? Can whatever brand you have be rebuilt? If you can get the parts for it, that might be a worthwhile thing to look into. I've never done it, myself, but it seems like that's all you need? Or... are you saying the rope is slipping in the gypsy? In that case...

    New 2019 engine on a 2023 GW?

This is correct. It's the same way with Mercury (maybe all of them?). Your warranty starts when you purchase the boat... or more accurately, when they submit the paperwork to Yamaha - which "could be" slightly later than your purchase date. That said, it would be strange to ACTUALLY have an...

New Yamaha 300 wouldn't go over 2000 RPMs...

No way to say. Get it scanned. Anything else would just be guessing. Could be anything from an actual engine problem to a flaky sensor to a loose connection to a battery voltage issue.

    Applying Hull Stripes

Don't do it a few inches at a time - it'll look horrible. Do it in one, smooth swoop. Wrap it around the transom and tape it in place for good measure. Then stand a little bit away from the boat and completely unwrap it. Get the tape and your eye even with the stripe and bring the tape into...

    SS Deck Chairs

Get the Garelick brand. Got a couple of those and have had them for well over 15 years. The tubes are aluminum, but there's nothing wrong with them. You get what you pay for with stuff like this.

What does a “test” propeller do?

Find a calm day and do it out on the water. Start by setting it your "best guess" and then fine tune on the water. You could always stop, make an adjustment, then run it again. Repeat.

    Trailer costs?

It's really hard for them to say without having the boat/trailer on site. There are just TOO many variables when it comes to trailers vs the boats setting on them. Add in old age and the labor goes up - dealing with rusted bolts/nuts. They can't give an estimate for something they know...
