First Time Timing Belt Change F250

Thanks for the replies. I read where the last step is over the rear middle idle. A bit of heat may also help, I'll give that a try. I moved 4 back into position, didn't feel any movement of broken parts inside. The interference motor makes me skittish.

First Time Timing Belt Change F250

So I finally got the old timing belt off. Very tight even after pinning the tensioner with a 5mm pin. I tried to put the new belt on using a rubber band to hold the belt on to start (tip from Sim on other site). No go. So what is the secret to getting this belt on? After the flywheel, Does it...

    WTB Grady White Marlin

Sorry, a bit too far, out in Oregon. Just thinking about cleaning up the boat and downsizing. If you close I'd give you a rest ride.

    Marlin 300 - Trim Tab/Plane Replacement

Is corrosion an issue? I now use zinc on my trim tabs as I found a couple screws had degraded and popped the heads off. I have the same year Marlin.

    Immersion Suits vs Life Raft

I've tried both and have a 6 person raft on top. It would need to be manually released as the boat would turtle but not activate the hydrostatic release. I fish in colder water than you. I've done the drill of putting on the gumby suit in 60 seconds. Do it once, you will have it down. Wax...

    Weight Distribution Hitch

I towed the 36' travel trailer to the coast and back with the Equalizer WDH. What a difference. Night and day. So much better control with the WDH. Easy to put on and take off. Here is a post made on the discussion of WDH off the Washington forum on Bloody Decks: " I put weight distribution...

What are you paying for insurance?

Right at 2K for 6 pack coverage through Chubb. May - Oct in the marina. As an aside, only another boat or the CG for towing out of Garibaldi, OR. Just not enough business for a private company. I towed a boat in from 10 miles on the calmest of days once. They rammed a log, lost their...

Sekiu Washington, on the Straits of Juan De Fuca - Salmon Fishing

I'm curious if you have had any issues with theft up there. I've heard it is rampant if you leave your space. Do you have moorage or launch every day? I've a friend in Port Angeles and he loves it there. Moved from Vancouver, WA and the life is much more laid back there. I need to tow up...

I used to keep a throw able in the step locker, now it sits empty. I may rethink it, maybe store rope.

    EPIRB's

I boat out of Oregon, which means cold water survival. I have a 6 person raft on the top. I brief everyone how to deploy the raft by pulling a chartreuse pull and lifting it out of a cradle. I've taken the commercial trainers course and while in a gumby suit you must right an overturned raft...

    EPIRB's

I cannot see replacing a EPIRB or a PLB with an Inreach. Go with the first 2, and add an in reach for the extra razzledazzle. Don't rely on In reach for life saving. Frankly I'd spend the extra cash on the program that can test the PLB. I used it in Oregon, Ketchikan and Zihuatenejo. The...

    autopilot install

I have a Simrad AP 28 for several years. It works well with my older Furuno VX2 system. Make sure your pump is placed where it will stay dry. My first pump was placed just in front on my diesel tank, on the shelf above the bilge. That pump died due to corrosion. My current pump is located...

    Throttle cables

Do those screws go into a blind threaded stud? I broke off 2 screws on the instrument panel for my md's and can't figure out how to remove the blind threaded studs they used. They didn't use stainless studs.

    Weight Distribution Hitch

I'd be curious on any details of the aluminum trailers breaking due to the use of WDH. Of course mine has E/H brakes, but they claim hitches will work with those surge brakes for those that risk having them. And of course adaptors are required for single pole trailers. I went with the...

    Weight Distribution Hitch

First step, get rid of surge brakes, go to E/H brakes. Second step, know the actual weights involved. Then make an informed decision.

    Weight Distribution Hitch

My truck has a class 4 hitch. You get that with the tow package, at least in a 2004.5 truck (midyear model change). I'll add a class 5 hitch near May when I pull her out of the shop. I'm buying a heavy WDH so I can use the same system, with the adaptor for the pole trailer hitch (single...
