    Shout Out for Marinco

I asked about a replacement tip for my Marlin wiper. For a very minimal charge Marinco service is sending me a deluxe wiper in case I need the parts. They said they usually have some parts around but since their bin is empty, they will send me a whole wiper. That is great customer service.

    Rod holder vs cup holder

I put 2 Mate series cup/rod holders on the stern, and use rod leashes for the straight back rods. I had to cut larger holes

    Giant Bluefin on Marlin

I've only had a schoolie BFT caught on my Marlin. It would be a dream to catch one that size. Mostly albacore off Oregon. Few Dorado and yellow tail Jack's but those are infrequent. Great catch.

New bow mounted boarding ladder and opening rail

Thanks for the info. I was looking for the material and thinking through how to bolt a raft cradle up on the bow. I agree on the butyl tape, I use it all the time.

New bow mounted boarding ladder and opening rail

Could you explain the bolt situation? What material did you find, 3/4" plywood or what. I've considered bolting a life raft up front but am shy about that process.

Who is heading out this weekend?

I'm heading out tomorrow a few miles to fish coho (silver salmon). If I get a couple I'll finish up trying for an inshore halibut. Coho BBQ on a cedar plank, no better meal.

    2007 Marlin Bowthruster Shear Pin

I can testify that the mini-wrench makes changing the shear pin a snap. I'm down to 30 minutes for the job. That includes wrapping the pin holder 3 times with black tape. The hole has enlarged so much the pin will fly out and break. No tapping is required to put the pin in now.

    VHF antenna

I agree. Except do Digital brand.

    Garboard drain plug!!

Oregon requires that the plug to be out while towing. This is a new requirement. Well, that disrupts my routine so I ignore it. Anytime my launching routine gets disrupted I tend to mess something. I only tow twice a year from saltwater so I'm not a zebra mussel threat.

Removing 12v Fridge. UPDATE: New Cabinet Installed w Pics

Marlin had 4 screws, slide out a bit, 2 connectors to unplug. That was it.

    AC System, Testing Seawater Pump?

Does anyone use the moisture mode on their AC? I read the online manual while trying to get my unit into the moisture mode. "Power & Down buttons (On Mode) - Simultaneously press the Power and Down buttons while in the On Mode to enter the Moisture Mode." I'm confused by this mode. I tried...

    Shore Power tripping GFCI outlet

I can sympathize. I ran my shore power to an outlet that had a 40' reel and it kept popping the GFCI. I switched to another circuit that is also a GFCI and a much longer cord, it works all the time. I think some GFCI's are better than others.

It went to the Simnet connectors behind the starboard side. Never do that again.

    Screw Cover Caps in Almond

I'm looking for a source for the screw covers that are used on the Marlin helm, the starboard side. I can find screw covers in white, but I'm looking for Grady almond.

    Hard to Reach Cables

Man, my morning has been frustrating. I started out check fuses under the helm because my Simrad AP 48 was not powering up. I took the opportunity to replace 2 cheesy inline fuse holders with waterproof ones. So after checking fuses my AP still would not power up. Checked the electrical...

    AC System, Testing Seawater Pump?

Just to update, I did test the AC reverse heat while hooked up to a faucet. The heat turned on and went from 62 to 70 degrees in the cuddy. So I buttoned up the hatches and will see when I launch the boat. It seemed as if the pump was working but I'm not sure. Perhaps the water pressure...
