    Weight Distribution Hitch

I'm curious if anyone uses a WDH on a heavier boat. I tow my Marlin on a triple axle aluminum trailer only twice a year. The road over the coast range is prone to slides so the roadbed has frequent repairs, making for a roller coaster ride. While looking at hitches for a new travel trailer I...

Used Marlin Sea Trial handling & Fisher Panda Generator

My squeaky wheel turned out to be trouble with the tilt mechanism. A stainless screw had backed out and was causing a squeak. It is possible for those stainless bolts to back out enough to lock up the wheel, although the hydraulic will be fine. On its replacement I used some lock tight. It...

    yamaha internal engine cleaner

Might be talking about the fuel shock treatment that is available to dealers. "Yamaha Internal Engine Cleaner is a dealer-only applied product that is the strongest and most effective way to clean out carbon and other build-up from the inside of your outboard. "

    NJ re Fishing Line

I use total braid because if my give way on my lead doesn't work I can lose 600-900' of line while fishing for halibut. If you do that make sure you wax the spool for corrosion and use a bit of tape so the braid doesn't spin on the spool. I can only think of trolling or live bait fishing to...

    Question on Gimbal Mounts

I like those stainless mounts. They will never crack like my plastic ones did. They are spendy, but lifetime.

    NJ re Fishing Line

I echo what Skunkboat said, bottom fishing, nothing but braid. I use it on electrics, manual and spinners for steelhead. I keep a wooden dowel (fish bat, anything that grips) or a rubber knot snubber close by when stuck on the bottom. 80lb braid will anchor the boat on a halibut drift. I...

How To Change Wiper Blade; 2007 282. Success - Thanks!

Is stay away from wipers that have plastic integral to them. Here is a blade holder that I didn't notice had plastic on the attachment. You can see the failure. I use wipers almost every trip, and rotten days they are on all day.

    Bottom Paint Questions

I lost a metal screw and needed protection on those metal trim tabs. I used the product pictured below for bottom paint, but the West Marine spray can was for aluminum outdives/lower units.

How To Change Wiper Blade; 2007 282. Success - Thanks!

Here are a couple photos with new pieces that show the hole which complements the metal bump. For refills you need to look for "twin rail blades with square claws." I the original AFI arms and a Trico 45-200 fits those. I bought some black plastic arms and my Trico refills are a bit too...

    Bottom Paint Questions

There are charts online that can give you which ablative paints you can use with little prep, or a bunch of sanding. Hopefully you can find out what product was used. As I pulled my boat today I took some photos. The bracket was spray painted with West Marine bottom unit black paint, 2 coats...

    Bottom Paint Questions

For my lower units that sit in the water I had some bare metal to deal with. I used this product after I sanded down the paint. I used the same West Marine spray on the lower unit. It seems to help a bit.

    Bottom Paint Questions

I do my own bottom paint but am looking for a new solution to my bracket, trim pump area as well. I used 2 coats of the West Marine outdrive paint and I'm not that impressed. This was the first season I painted the trim area, lots of mussels and barnacles prior. I use an ablative paint...

    Hull plugs

Good news. I would have sworn it was toast. I carry wood plugs and a mallet, but a 4lb cod weight will work. I also carry an orange foam plug that would fill a larger hole. Then I get down to my foam pillow and gorilla tape.

    SeaStar Helm seal

Now that is an interesting idea. I had to replace my pump this summer and getting the new one in is always a pain. Thanks for the tip.

    Radar Question

Radar is mandatory for me. I hate running in between the jetties in the fog, never sighting either jetty. I first had a small set on a 22' aluminum boat. They call August Fogust up in Barkely Sound on Vancouver Island. After my first trip up there every boat since then has had radar. Well...

    2006 Yamaha F250 4 Stroke 6 Cylinder

Also have 2006 twin 250s. About 1700 hours on them. One engine made some oil so I inquired of my shop I use. They told me that it is common in our area. We have a short run to the bar, and then almost never run full throttle in the PNW ocean. He wants me to run the engines at full throttle...

Hydraulic steering a little stiff, normal or not?

Any chance of a photo of exactly where you added a zerk? That is a great idea.

Has anybody rigged scuba tank holders to their Grady?

When I bought my boat it had rails and tank holders on the stern. I changed over to plastic rod holders that come in handy. You can add drink holders and tie downs that slip into the rails.

    Oil Change pump?

I just checked my oil and thought I might have engines making oil. I think I overfilled them as I didn't tilt the engines prior. Lesson learned. As above, tilt those engines.

    Bodega head CA

That 300gm jig makes my arm hurt. I'm up to 200gm jigs for albacore that refuse to take surface offerings. A friend brought some of the inkinvaders to try that a sales guy wants feedback on. They look good for kings, but I'm lazy, just drift a herring down there and lings on the hook in no...
