    Got a 2003-2005 270 Islander?

Front berth or head. I haven't made storage bags for them yet. When we are in the Key's the boat is a tackle locker. Too small to spend any time inside unless the kids are down. It works for us!

    Got a 2003-2005 270 Islander?

I went with a 1-piece front Makrolon/polycarbonate. I also changed the side windows also Makrolon/polycarbonate. Sunbrella material for the frames. Been this way for a few years now. I use the boat mostly during the winter in Florida. Front panel is always up. With the side panels up it can get...

Garmin GPsMap 943xsv &their Captain app real world feedback

Active Captain with a iPad is great tool. They can bring up the helm screen and do anything you can do at the unit. Sunlight readability will be problem. It’s also how you install maps and updates.

    Winter Battery Charging

My boat is plugged in all year. Important to have a good charger (which you do).

    Search Box Hidden?

Happens on my MacBook in Safari. The search box doesn't show what you type but it still works. I usually click the gear and use advanced.

    I need a tip…265x enclosure

I doubt it's "shrunk". It's just may be the top is not stretched out enough to bring the zipper together. Do as SkunkBoat said - unsnap everything below, start the zippers and pull down about 3". I would lube the zippers first and lube the kedder in the awning track a little. Make sure it moves...

    Replacing Compartment Doors.

"Faded Grady White" is what I call my 25yo gelcoat. Hard to match to Starboard colors but they have the best selection.

    Drawer/ door gasket material

Try McMaster Carr. More choices but a little expensive especially when you add-in shipping. But they get the job done!

    Replacing Compartment Doors.

Dennis - With all due respect Starboard is not "simply" HDPE. They went thru the trouble of creating color choices that work for boaters and have a mild texture on it. Otherwise if you go to a local plastics company for HDPE you take your chances (cutting board white?) on what you get...

    Which radar

Garmin SteadyCast heading sensor is a NMEA2000 connected device. About $130. I use Garmin GPS 24xd for improved GPS positioning and heading sensor. About $250.

    Replacing Compartment Doors.

Not sure exactly what Starboard is made up of but it’s the right choice for boat projects. Cuts, routes and sands like wood. Has a mild texture finish Should be available in Canada.

    Replacing Compartment Doors.

I'll put installed photos up tomorrow. Cabinet doors are recessed like the original frames. 3/4" Starboard is cut down to 1/4" for a 1/2" recess. Here are the finished cabinet doors. One cabinet has drawers that the frame attaches to. Another had a storage area the was re-built and the last...

    Which radar

I have 8610xsv in the overhead and 8612xsv at the helm. This series has higher screen resolution than the 943/1243 series. The 9000 series is 4k but price of the unit and size of the unit are not practical choice for smaller boats. The added resolution is most noticeable with charts but also...

    Which radar

The Garmin Fantom units are digital and use less power (sort of like LED's). The GMR Fantom 18 closed array radar I have is 40W. There is a GMR Fantom 18x 50W unit. If you have over-the-road clearance while trailering of have high bridge clearance you may want to use a 6" pedestal for the radar...

    Boating after dark - options?

Spotlight are ok Just don't use them like headlights! You have to be careful not to put your spotlight on another boat head on. You will night blind them for a few minuets.

GW Transom Repair 1999 Adventure 208

Since you are doing the replacement from the outside of the boat make sure the stringer to transom bonds have not been compromised on the inside. The stringer bonds keep the transom from twisting out.

    Boating after dark - options?

Forward lighting isn’t legal. It blinds everyone else. Radar is good for a few miles if you know what you are looking at. Night vision is good for close in stuff if no fog. Ideal to have both.
