    Battery Charger

I have the ProMariner ProSport HD 20 Plus. This is a 3-bank charger (you only need 2) that shifts load according to demand (buy the 3-bank for the extra amperage). Also if you decide to go 3-bank you can. They have fixed problems with melting fuse holders. I have owned several of them and think...

    A/C in a cuddy cabin

When something is broken on your car when do you fix it? Most people wait unit they sell it. Why not fix it earlier and enjoy it? It's a 2007 268 Islander re-powered with 2006 F150 Yamahas. I'm investing in my boat for my use - not the future owner. Do I really care if my kids get the best ROI...

    A/C in a cuddy cabin

I often have thought about air conditioner for my boat. All the home stuff doesn't work. I saw a roof top RV air conditioner that would look hokie and probably not hold up. The best I saw were Wabatso and Domestic 6,000 btu units. I could probably get one installed in the space to the aft of...

    Orange fuel/Water?

I fought water in fuel problems for a few years. O-rings on fuel fills likely the cause. Some condensation. Couple of time adding stabilizer caused engines to stall - filters full of water. Every time I cleaned the fuel up and burnt it. My F150's have 2,230 hours on them and run like new. I used...

    Orange fuel/Water?

Dump the filters, put clean fuel in and try again. Hopefully injectors not messed up. Run it! But don't let primary fill up and get to secondaries on engine before dumping again. Your wallet would know if the fuel is ethanol free. In Florida it's called Rec 90 at about $6.00/gallon last winter...

Access to Garmin 8616 SD CARD on my Fishermen 257 F

it is accessible. Take the trim strips off and unscrew the 4 screws. The unit will come out. Your MicroSD cards are on the back of the unit. This is a terrible location for them. But you can install a SD card reader off the back and put it somewhere you can get to it. Exactly what I do and it...

Access to Garmin 8616 SD CARD on my Fishermen 257 F

Take the unit out from the front. Install a SD Card Reader. It can be behind the unit somewhere. Leave your Active Captain card in one slot and use the other for data transfers. Works for me with 8612 and 8610 units that I can't get behind...

    Orange fuel/Water?

How much fuel is in this tank? Is it ethanol free? You could get it out and burn it in your lawnmower. DO NOT put it in your car - they can't handle filtering the fuel and you will wreck your car. I have not found a way to dispose of old fuel so I burned it...carefully. The pickups can't get...

has anyone replaced livewell hose on a 282 Sailfish/

On my boat the compartment on the port side is split into a live well on outboard side and drink cooler on the inboard side. It's a long reach into the opening to get to the live well fill. Your boat may be different. Maybe pie plate. Where does the water come into the live well? Is it close to...

2004 Grady White 330 Express - pump out switch wiring question

No. I have a older 268 Islander. I have a pushbutton panel with a level indicator. Can't find my photo. Where is yours? What does this switch do? Overboard pumpout?

Not necessary. Does nothing for you. You need to take the deck up on the step-up to the helm. You have access thru the hatch to the live well. Much easier with the tank out but I think you can do it.

has anyone replaced livewell hose on a 282 Sailfish/

I did mine last Summer while replacing the fuel tanks. This is a 268 Islander - similar layout to your boat. There is a PVC rigging tube on the Port side. Look at GW Owners manual. Hose runs thru there forward and pops out under the companion seat in the fuel compartment. Pull the deck up at...

    Radar observation

Kirk's point about using radar during the day is a important tip. Pilots practice flying "under the hood" to learn to trust their instruments when they loose visual feedback. My recommendation is to install a magnetic heading sensor along with radar. Autopilots will have one. Garmin has a...

    Radar observation

“Don’t worry. They’ll get out of the way. Learned that driving the Saratoga.” I run daytime on clear days. I didn't do a platform or a tilt but I believe it's a good thing to do.

    Fiberglass Repair to Hardtop

I own a self storage facility in Cape May area. Even though I have 200 units I don't even have single garage for my truck! All work was done outside. It was a total PITA because every morning everything was wet. Building up the edges and flattening all the glass work was a little bit every day...

    Rod holder strap(s)

I haven't been able to find them. I replaced the other GW rod holder straps on my boat with thin bungee cord, hog ring crimps and shrink wrap tubing.
