    Explorer 24 ( 1992) Fuel Tank

Typical life of a fuel tank is 20 years so you’re into overtime. I’d consider addressing sooner than later, can pull the hatch for visual and also if there’s a whiff of any leakage. Poly tank might be an option instead of aluminum going forward.

    Gas before or after storage

Agree - fill to about 7/8 of a tank, add stabil for the off-season. Prevents excess condensation and then water in fuel by having a full tank of gas.

Boat envy, thinking about a new Marlin 300, have questions.

My sailboat lives in a slip (going on 3 years since last haul out when I bought it). Diver comes quarterly for $100 each trip (22’ boat with an outboard that is not in the water - the more you have below the waterline to clean, like an inboard prop shaft, the more expensive the diver). Growth...

    208 trailer

Well it’s likely primarily due to my stated value of the boat versus yours. My boat is a 1984, so you have a lot more coverage for your boat value. There was a recent thread on insurance pricing on this forum I think this was the thread https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/boat-insurance.31739/

    208 trailer

Geico partners with BoatUS/towBoatUS so it’s kind of three for one that you get the boat insurance, trailer insurance and water tow coverage if they have a station near you. My policy was less than about $500 annually

New Grady White 228 Seafarer owner with a couple of questions...

Butyl tape works well as a sealant too. It doesn’t ‘dry’ so it’s ideal for things that might need to be removed in the future.

Finally a Grady White owner and finally got her back home safely...

Upgrade to hydraulic or electric steering systems

If I can offer one bit of $0.02… take your time getting familiar with the boat on the water before tackling too much for upgrades. I think you were considering a hardtop too on another thread. More time on the water will provide you the answer of which upgrade you want the most and do that...

    Cockpit heat ideas 208 Adventure

I had pretty good luck with Pacific trailer service dept for parts, although they were out of one part, and held up the order but I just called and told them to send me what they had and it arrived in a few days. I’m sure cross country would be closer to a week or so (if what you’re looking is...

Gulfstream 232 with black bottom paint - how to clean

Can get this at the dollar store and it does well on the tough grime in a spray bottle with water. I use it for the stains above the paint boot stripe line.

    Water in Fuel Tank

Completely agree - JB weld not marinetex if that’s the route you go for now. That said, if they found one pin hole, there is probably another somewhere else.

    1987 Seafarer vs.2014

My understanding (just from reading up on this topic) in addition to being more stable on drift was that the older hull design had better top end speed, better fuel economy, but the compromise was a bit more pounding in 3’-4’ chop. Curious as to others’ experience.

    1987 Seafarer vs.2014

Imo a well cared for older boat can be just as reliable or more for you than a newer boat that has not been cared for. They were well built boats back then, hand laid fiberglass I’m sure that @leeccoll will answer any of your questions! His is probably one of the cleanest older boats you can...

    Seat restoration...

Ok picture helps, really just the inner armrests that are in dire need, rest of the chairs look like they can be cleaned up. Can get new armrests. Check these threads https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/arm-rest-need-to-beredone.31111/#post-204689...

Anyone live in the Baltimore area? Looking at/would love opinions on possibly buying a GW 228 Seafarer.

Honestly I’m not surprised they won’t do transactions that aren’t in person. Looks like your searching might have paid off with a solid boat and a decent price! Hope it goes well for you. It seems we might be at the start of covid prices coming back down to earth to some degree (hopefully).
