    1997 Grady 209 Escape

Personally I would say in cape cod you see FAR more CCs than WAs. NY weather is not much different. It’s a 6 month season at best, but the weather is often even better in the summer in the NE area than FL imo (not trying to cause a stir with those that love the FL heat). Valid points on the...

    1997 Grady 209 Escape

I think you would be very happy with this boat with your size family. I don’t have experience with this specific model but I love a 20’ CC - versatile and simple. Likely has a max of 8 people - should be a sticker on the inside of the boat probably by the helm with max weight/people. Many GW...

    1997 Grady 209 Escape

Looks like a nice boat that seems to have been cared for. I would have to say $20k is a little spendy at the end of the season and for the age, but there’s been upward price pressure for 2 years, so not surprised. I’d get a survey- the $1k to spend could identify expensive issues, and could...

    Looking at this Grady White

Would you use that on your boat for longer than a day in the water, to an area constantly subjected to water spray? I doubt it. I mean you can see water dripping in his picture as he peels it off, and that boat is on a trailer.

Well that’s a half assed repair if I’ve ever seen one. Expect to spend some hours or $ on that but it’s not a bad deal really. The trailer alone is worth probably $4k

Fuel fill locations on a 1999 232 Gulfstream

The manual for your model year should help you track it down, unless modifications were made at some point.

Welcome to the Transom Club... Need help in SW FL

Yeah good point. I’d tell the guys you’re talking to - look I don’t need this done immediately, but would like to get in the queue sooner than later and be ready for next season, and what can I perhaps start on my own to make it easier for the pro to take over when there’s time available.

    Advance 257 anchor locker

Agree with the bucket approach. See some ideas here at this link. Large bucket with some drain holes at the bottom - smaller bucket on the inside and it makes it easy to coil and store. https://stingysailor.com/2013/04/20/anchor-and-rode-restoration/

Yes, by November you might find more availability and willingness. Hell I’d drive over to the places you’re calling and try to talk in person and build some rapport.

I’d suggest having a mechanic check engine compression at least. You could do it yourself too with some relatively inexpensive tools and some YouTube vids. If it’s north of $20k a $1k survey could help you avoid some problems. If it’s cheaper then the gamble might pay off with less on the line...

Good luck with the journeys and continue to check in here when you can. I’ve noticed your kind and helpful posts many many times. I’ve only been to Asia once for a week for work, but I was incredibly impressed with Shanghai if you can fit it in - Jin Mao Tower Hyatt was the best hotel...

    Grady Transom inspection

Could get moisture readings done before buying. I’d definitely recommend a survey in this case. If you’re still interested in the boat it will provide you some negotiating leverage.

Swivel Rod Holder Help UPDATE with Pics

My thought was, if there was enough room to fit up on the inside of the gunwale. With your couple other rod holders there might not be room, but maybe aft of the swivel. So through bolts vertical from the top of the gunwale with rails on the underside for further stability. Abut the rail to each...

Swivel Rod Holder Help UPDATE with Pics

These are meant as motor mount backing plates but perhaps a couple of these could help firm up the gunwale from the inside, although it would require some through bolts. Very strong SS design...
