    Carry an Extra Propeller ?

Not common. Stainless prop, good chartplotter, sounder, BoatUS and insurance. Oh and a little common sense! You can usually read the water. When in doubt slow down. I have more trouble with the dinky canal in the Keys. Real bad after Erma but better after they cleaned it up. Get a little...

    Plexiglass windscreen on a hardtop

I suppose they do something if you are running without a front enclosure panel. Removed mine when I re-did my hardtop. Single piece polycarbonate across my front.

    Islamorada Sailfish report

Fishing has been terrible. Could have caught just as many sailfish in Wildwood!. Only had 2 in 9 weeks. Week and a half to go. We keep trying. Ocean has been dead. But YES 80 degree weather and blue water soothes the pain .

    Garmin Radar on 306 Canyon

I should fit with no problem. Get up there and measure! I run a18" Fathom 18x digital 40 watt on my 268 without any problems. It's only 3" wider in radius. Ask yourself how much radar do you need. Great radar. Consider getting some kind of magnetic heading sensor to orient the radar at low...

    2006 Sailfish Upholstery questions

What's wrong with the originals? Buy them/it from wherever you like but my policy is "change is not good". Is there some benefit from switching from what you have to something you "think" will fit? Best of luck. I go thru this with people all the time. Bilge pump, washdown pump, dome lights...

    Islamorada Sailfish report

Fishing the Poor Girl's tournament with my wife as the registered angler and my friend Dave as Captain. As always I run the cockpit and mate. Small local tournament 25-30 boats. Inexpensive social. Two dozen goggs on hold for the morning. Windy but good kite weather. Should be fun...

    Transom replacement Marlin

Depends on who and how the transom is being repaired. If it is a full transom replacement - great - but that is a $10k~$12k job. Make it the owners problem. Tell him your interested but you need to talk to glass shop and see the work. If it's a patch job I would be very nervous too.

    Islamorada Sailfish report

Been here in Islamorada since Christmas. Fishing has been slow. Most days of reef and trolling have been zero's. Dead ocean. It usually flips around so we will see. Here for another month. We have caught blacken, amberjak, sails, kings but it's been sporadic.

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

You can't really access the forward end of the 1/2" pvc. It's under a glassed-in shelf for the shower sump. It is plugged in the aft bilge. In my case it is unlikely it will drain in the winter.

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

No but he used a lighter to shrink the tubing on the bilge pump. He didn't smell gas but it happened. Not a good idea. The dangerous part of all of this is that people can rationalize that everything is safe. There is no way to know when you cross the line and get in trouble. Stay safe.

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Some tank manufacturers recommend that you DO NOT paint them with anything. Mine were epoxy painted but it was a crap job. To do it right you have to use a special epoxy primer specifically for aluminum. I used the AwlGrip primer on my aluminum tower that I sandblasted, aluminum primed, Awlgrip...

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Russel is an experienced boater. Had COVID a few weeks before and claimed he didn't have his sense of smell back. There was a leak somewhere. The explosion blew a hatch out and caused thousands of dollars in damage. What can I say...fumes will explode. Let me know how the leaf blower works to...
