    New boat question

That sounds like how too many sail boats were set up in the past, and many still are today. But, doesn't that mean that the only way to empty the holding tank is shore side pump out?

    New boat question

Do you know the cost of each of those 3 options from Grady? Also, do you know the brand name of your porcelain bowl?

    Red button breaker

You can get the same breaker on Amazon for half price, with an Eaton or Bussmann name on it, instead of Blue Seas. I don't think it even says Blue Sea on it, they just market it...

    What am I missing

I also redid my upper fuse panel on my 228 last week. I thought I had a pic of the wiring inside the e-box, but only had a close up to show the connections. Mine is different, in that my dome is red/white/off, and I have a toggle switch to the left of the e-box door for spreader on/off.

    Nautical Miles/ 228 Seafarer

Doug, what year is your motor? Easy to get accurate mpg, and fuel remaining, to your gauges, or to your chart plotter, if you have the engine plug in on your motor.

Swim ladder to go over trim tabs on a 180 Sportsman?

I think it is very common, if you have a full swim platform, and a transom door of the side towards the dock.

Swim ladder to go over trim tabs on a 180 Sportsman?

Just remembeer, if you are too weak, or too injured, to use the ladder, there is another option. Assuming the engine is off, stand with a foot on each side of the anti vent plate, hug the cowling, and use the tilt switch on the side to dump yourself back aboard. I know there is no way I could...

Towing with Bimini top - Freedom 225

That's a long haul, from the SC coast.

    Kicker on 228??

I think 25 is the minimum. Is that bracket only supported by the swim platform, and not bolted to the transom?

    Pulling Port

If the boat pulls to port, move the trailing edge of the anode to port. Seems counter intuitive, if you think of the tab as having a rudder effect, but its effect is to steer the engine, and the engine is the rudder for the boat.

Dukke, if you find a source for that oem fabric, please let me know. I have a damaged cushion cover in the same pattern.

    Sally rebuild of a 2003 228

FLW, did your top frame have much bend in it? All the visible breaks look like they are sheared off at 90 degrees.

Trailer guide poles or bunks ?

I recommend this type of bracket, if you have an I-beam, and not a box beam trailer. One bolt, snug fit, no holes to drill, and easy adjustment...

    Seafarer Hardtop Thickness?

Yeah, I guess I should pull the old wires from the previous owner, see if it is solid around the penetrations, and reseal. Have a Vhf antenna cable, 2 little nav light wires, and a GPS antenna cable I don't use

Thanks, that should hold a small VHF.

    Splicing anchor rode

Halfhitch, does the 200' have any chain attached. How deep do you anchor, how often, and how much rode do you want to end up with? If more than 400', I would splice a longer rode with chain to the 200', and put the longer rode on the anchor end. The chain splice is the same size as the end...

    Seafarer Hardtop Thickness?

Thanks, FLW. LD, did you screw in the VHF bracket, or thru bolt it?

Where to find a chain for the gas cap

Hold the cap an inch above the fill, and turn the cap 10 turns. I'll be surprised if the chain kinks.
