My boat is at that age

JRyan, do you have a 2005 without either a wash down, or a transom shower? You don't need another hole, if you have a live well thru hull. My 2000 has the freshwater transom shower, which I also refer to as the washdown, so no thru hull for that. And no pressure, no volume, so it's a lousy...

    228 Livewell Support Arm

The cap on the backside, opposite the opening, has to pop up to release the ball, and to lock the new one . Sometimes it is difficult.

    Kill Switch

Seasick, we may have read the same article. I remember them talking about long-distance sailors, and the woman would wake up, or come out of the cabin from an extended stay, and find her self all alone on the boat.

    Kill Switch

Not trying to defend the regulation, but you don’t have to be ejected. You could drop dead in a second from a heart attack, in a fully enclosed boat, in a crowded waterway, in which case only a lanyard might stop your boat. Happens in vehicles every day.

I only get emails about private messages, which is good in my opinion.

    Kill Switch

First, it wasn’t a Covid bill, it was the omnibus spending bill for fiscal year 2021. Right now it’s up to eight pages, mostly people whining about why they shouldn’t have to use a kill switch, and arguing personal liberty rather than safety, much the same way they complain about being required...

    265 exspress windshield washer reroute

I am thinking of the same thing. I don't think the washer pump is sufficient, and the wiper arm won't be distributing the spray in a pattern. I will be looking for a spray bar, and a strong pump. Be careful what you spray on your enclosure, many normal cleaners can discolor .

    Seadek on a 228?

How often do you plan to wash down your decks, after fishing? You can't do it without lifting those rubber mats, and then reassembling them afterwards. Aren't you hoping to get into tuna fishing? That's a bloody mess in the cockpit. I have them in front of an 8 foot workbench, and they catch...

Gulfstream 323--Simpson-Lawrence Horizon 600 Series Windlass

8 plait, and a good swivel between anchor and chain. Something else to consider, maybe there is a different amount of twist on the rode going down than there is coming up, or anchoring in different depths, so that you build up a twist that stays in your rode. If it were a spinning reel, you...

    Motor bracket vs transom mounted

Tilting the engine in reverse is key in a bracketed boat, since the motor is higher. Otherwise, most of the reverse thrust is bouncing off the transom.

Better access to the inspection plates, but hard on the knees.

My digital tach shows rpm in hundreds. I hope it is 2 or 3 hundred out of sync, not thousands.

    Motor bracket vs transom mounted

That's not the transom cap, that's the wave gate. The cap is the aluminum covering the top of the transom notch, where the engine is mounted. That area is prone to leak, and eventually rot the transom. It should have been fiber glassed, instead of covered up with a metal strip I have a '93...

    Routing Starboard

I have never used an adjustable speed router, didn't know they made them. To me, bit speed is your friend for a smooth cut. The key is finding the right speed to push the router. Hard to hold that router perfectly flat, with that heavy battery so high up. Wobble may be some of your problem...
