    Underwater Lights - sealing holes

You’re working with good products. Six10 is my epoxy of choice - it dries a bit yellow though. Will dry very hard.

    Thoughts on rod holder davits

Honestly I think your best bet is a slightly smaller inflatable with a removable bottom that packs up into a bag you can stow with a small 2-6hp that is 60lbs or less with an internal gas tank. A larger inflatable is just going to limit your options like you’ve been wrestling with. Don’t ruin...

    Keeping up with the KYs...

Give it a try, a little acetone will clean up the rub rail nicely. Don’t need to use very much, and it’s a bit too harsh for fiberglass or gel coat.

If that was on the west coast I’d buy it tomorrow and get rid of mine.

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

I actually think the used boat market might level out in maybe 2-3 years as these boats sit a while and owners ask themselves why they keep writing checks for something they don’t use.

I tend to agree, I expect it’s a play by GW mgmt to speed up production on some models that they make better margins on, and can deliver quicker, and rebrand or reintroduce later once the world comes back into balance.

    It's official - 228 is no more :-(

Just another sign of a challenging boating market, even in times of high demand. I suspect it’s a combination of supply chain, demand overall, production time, and materials costs. While these boats make sense for many areas of the country, it’s still a limited market of people that are actually...

    Inflatable Options

Can use a couple of sailing blocks/pulleys (harken, ronstan) - maybe one with a ratchet function, maybe the other with a cam cleat fiddle block. Could make it 4:1 or 5:1 mechanical advantage and maybe could attach from the front of the hardtop to pull the dingy up and on. Your wife will be...

    Question

It’s worth what someone will pay for it :) an ‘02 hull and engine will have the value associated with the GW brand name. Engine I wouldn’t put a huge amount of value to. imo probably in the range of: hull and equipment - $10-20k Engine - maybe up to $2-4k Trailer - maybe up $2-4k depending on...

    Grady white 175 spirit

Good advice from MagicalBill. Congrats on your new GW. It’ll be a great boat, I love a center console. I always suggest a boater safety course - not that I know your experience level - but I’d recommend to anyone. California requires a boater license and safety course, and I learned some things...

    87 offshore transom repair question?

You could drill a couple exploratory holes to see if there’s areas of rotted core. Or poke with an ice pick or pocket knife. If it doesn’t feel solid, it would need more work to cut out sections and build back up with solid material, but I think it’s patchable without a huge fuss for a while.

    87 offshore transom repair question?

I’d say it’s not totally unexpected in an older hull. You could likely do some simple fiberglass/epoxy repairs. Doesn’t really matter what it looks like if you can just sure it up a bit. West marine has a cheap fiberglass pamphlet with a lot of information...

Check the hose clamps too. There could be a crack in the line somewhere allowing air or losing suction or something

Agree - first spots to check is the fuel lines, fuel filters, and or carbs. Maybe run some Seafoam through
