The Sikens I used did leave the teak a litlle orangy but I preferred it to letting the teak go gray - I hated putting oil on - the siken was not slippery - I haveread recently that the new sikens has a very pleasing color and is clost to natural teak coloring. I have not seen it live jsut...

    Advice for a 2002 Gulfstream w/single 225 4 Stroke

The F225 is a 6000 RPM machine - Initially I was not getting the RPMs and the dealer changed the prop and then it would get to 6000 at least early in the season while the bottom was clean - the speed If I recall was around 38 MPH with a couple of people- The boat does not like to back up ...

How many hours can you expect to get out of a 4 stroke?

I would say that they have not been around long enough to establish a good number - you hear some commercial guys talk about 3,000 hours and running strong

Hand Rinsing Spout Port Side issue

it sounds like it must have it's own pump. All the other faucets are on a pressure contolled pump i.e you open the fauce and the pump turns on. If this has it's own switch it might be a small water pump. I owned a Seafarer that had a pump controlled by a switch but id did not have a primary...

    transom question

Ive had all three transoms - A Seafarer (notched), Gulfstream (bracket) and Sailfish (Euro) - While it is tough to compare just the transoms because of the different sizes in boats, I had a much better sense of saftey with the the latter two transoms - backing down on a fish is a bit nerve...

Can you.hear the pump cycling on and off it may be the press switch. Could also be a corroded connection or if you can't hear anything maybe a dead pump. winter prep: full tank of gas or just above empty?

I have winterized with a half full tanks - never had an issue - I would not want to do an empty tank because of condensation issues - I always use an appropriate amount of stabilizer for each tank - I see full tanks as money in the bank. Each spring somehow gas magically skyrockets in time for...

    2004 Sailfish Hydraulic Steering Question

Actually lucked out on this one - when I got it open I could see that there was no leak - the drips were the result of overfilling and the fluid running down the back of the steering whell wall - once in a while you win and easy fix!

Helm chairs on the 282 Sailfish

The chairs can be quite frustrating - In addition the fix that Grady came up with for the discoloration issue on the arms made the situation worse. The original covers had a hard plastic feel and althought the area was still tight you coud slide by. The new rubber arm covers are like magnets to...

    2004 Sailfish Hydraulic Steering Question

Thanks everyone - I've checked the lines and they are all snug - the leaks occured last weekend and it was pretty cool so it probably was not from the heat - I will check this weekend, but I am leaning toward it being a seal issue - Bet removing that Steering wheel fro the post is going to be a...
