    Vacuflush Head Help

All of my boats have discharged through a thru hull, no seacock in the plumbing. In most cases, the Y-valve serves as the locking point, and a zip tie is sufficient. When they dumped the tank, it was a new to me boat, which I had not yet used. The marina was prepping it for me, as I was...

    Vacuflush Head Help

I guess it depends on what your protocol is, for what goes into the bowl, but for anything other than liquids, I think that time just makes everything else harder to deal with. My wife was always in charge of the head, and she was very particular about what chemicals were used. We pumped in the...

    Vacuflush Head Help

This comment may not be helpful, but I would never let a holding tank go for a year without pumping it out.

    1987 19 Tournament front compartment

Can you see the underside, from under the helm? Is it insulated? I never looked on my 22, because I never wanted the fish I catch to fit in there;), and because more than 90% of the fish I do catch are at the back of the boat. I never understood why they guttered the same opening on the port...

    Another Deck Hatch Thread

I bought a SF228, and am going to sell my '93 Tournament 22. The deck hatches need re-coring, and I am trying to decide whether to repair, or sell as is. Most seem to do their own, but that is not on my agenda. Has anyone paid to have it done, who wouldn't mind sharing the cost? PM is good...

That's a great link, if for nothing else, to have the description/comparison of all the fabrics at the bottom of the page.

    How I spent the day...

We were making the turn to go behind the breakwater coming into Luanda, Angola. Seas were not rough, but BIG ground swells. We got beam to coming off a big swell, and took back-to-back snap rolls in the 40's. Put the main deck in the water on both sides, and were very luck not to have any MOB...

    Bought a 2000 Seafarer 228

Thanks, Buddy :) The network is for my fuel flow sensor, that displays on my Lowrance. My Garmin is also capable, as will be any future VHF upgrades, or other electronics. Much easier to plug and play, and have everything communicate on the network, than to match up all those little wires...

    Bought a 2000 Seafarer 228

Some things I found out this week: Pulled the live well to check pumps, etc. Blue float switch, SureBail IIRC, was bad. The wires were like spaghetti, easily stretched, and pulled apart with no effort. Through hull rod not functioning. The rod is good, but the end connection was...

    Seafarer Livewell removal

Mine came out easily. Have to replace the float switch, and a rod to open the seacock. Someone posted a link recently.

    Seafarer Livewell removal

Yes, I found out that the taper of the live well allows for the thickness of the foam on the bottom 2/3.

    Seafarer Livewell removal

Seafarer is such a long running model, and such a popular boat, and with several of us new owners, it seems like we need one thread for all things Seafarer. Not sure how to make that work. Today’s question is about live well removal. Mine looks like it was installed, and then someone stuck a...

New to me 228 seafarer, outboard height questions.

Changing the zinc on the bottom of the lower unit is not going to affect your ease of steering, unless your boat constantly pulls in one direction. That tab is to keep your boat going in a straight direction, with no hands on the wheel.
