    New boat tool set

It can be "squished" into odd shaped gouges or holes (smaller ones)... or even plug a seacock "tube" (say the hose ruptured but you can't close the seacock because you never "exercised" it a few times a year). The Sta-plug works really well, too, for odd shaped things. But the wax ring is a...

    New boat tool set

What tools to keep on board has as many answers as "What's the best oil?". :) But, here's some ideas. -- Forespar Sta-plug. Much better than wooden bungs. -- A toilet bowl wax ring is good, too. -- On the engines, most every nut or bolt will be 10mm or 12mm. There's a couple larger ones -...

    Grady White 180 - Yamaha F150

Good luck! At least it sounds like you're all sorted out, now. Send the old injectors out for cleaning and sell them - at least you can recoup some of the money.

Should I drop insurance in the winter?

I think you posted in the wrong thread. To the OP, David... yes, there is no such thing as a dumb question. But asking a question, then having multiple people spend their own time responding and not responding back IS bad etiquette. If something in "life" happened to prevent you from...

    Grady White 180 - Yamaha F150

Well this is completely different than your original post. Why was the high pressure pump replaced? Was the pressure low? Or was it just replaced on a whim without diagnosing? You, or the mechanic (maybe a different one) needs to do some diagnosing rather than just throwing parts at it...

    Grady White 180 - Yamaha F150

Just to double check... you're trimming up as high as you can go until ventilation and/or speed no longer increases? What type of load is in the boat and what are the sea conditions during the WOT run?

    Cabin cushion recover

Well, you guys made me smile, so thank you! I paid $600 (including a center cushion) and that was WITH the more expensive, and brand new, foam. :)

Some manufacturers use two switches at the dash. One to turn the system on and one to control up/down. Often the up/down switch has a "guard" around it or requires pulling the toggle outwards before flipping up/down. It helps to prevent accidental deployment of the anchor - and doing so...

    Boat Lift Bunk Spacing

Yes, lining up with the stringers is important - hence my comment above about keepign things were they are as opposed to more "in the middle". Down towards the keel is still plenty strong. Wider bunks... not really. It's just two different ways to do the same thing. If you go with wide...

    Boat Lift Bunk Spacing

Last Stop... do a quick measurement - from the picture it looks like if you slide the bunks out much further that the keel will hit the lift crossbar. Measure the distance from the keel to the crossbar ("X"). Now, take a straight edge off one of the bunks, held horizontally level. Next, use a...

Anyone here install an Atlantic Tower-in a-Box on a 180 Sportsman?

Oh, and be sure to chamfer the hole to keep from causing spider cracks in the gel.

Anyone here install an Atlantic Tower-in a-Box on a 180 Sportsman?

I was thinking it was being mounted to a vertical surface - hence the suspend/brace comment. It's even easier in your situation to line things up. You know your boat better than me, but I'd be very wary of putting an inexpensive pie plate on the deck floor. A latching, heavy duty one, sure...

Good point - forgot about the relay... even though I've installed a couple windlasses over the years! That makes sense.

I always prefer backing plates, myself.

Oh, OK. Yeah, that you should be able to source from a metal retailer. I think there's one called metal depot, or something like that, online. Mcmaster Carr should have something like that, too. Cut it to your specs. However, you could also use something like 1/4" HDPE which is much easier...

Anyone here install an Atlantic Tower-in a-Box on a 180 Sportsman?

Hang it from a tree into the position you want. Mark holes, drill. You could carefully brace it in position instead of hanging it. But... I thought they send pretty good directions? And/or, I do know that they have a ton of installation directions on their website. I would look at those and...

    Windless

Yup - sounds like either the dash switch or the foot switch at the bow is hanging up. Does your boat use a guarded power switch at the helm?

    Cabin cushion recover

It's all personal preference, of course. But, I recovered in a medium gray vinyl with dark blue piping. I figured vinyl was the easiest to keep clean (and less expensive, too). I did increase the thickness of the foam to 4" and went with a medium density foam to avoid "bottoming out" when...

    2000 gulfstream windless

I think you're talking about an anchor roller? It doesn't ride "on" the SS - it's more of a "chute" whereas there are rollers. It will make more sense when you look at them closer.

Yes, they're a smaller company so not as well known. They also have full support for their products going back decades.
