    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

Thanks Dennis for making that clearer.

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

I highly doubt that one more battery would submerge the scuppers. I would take a look inside the bracket though. It may have water in it.

    Installing a windlass

It's a bit confusing at first to understand the different variations of chain. I am told that links may have the type stamped on the links, e.g. G4 but on 4 different kinds of chain I have laying around, I can't see a G4 anywhere. The reason I had to better understand the specs was that I had to...

    4blade

If I may ask, what props did you install ( Make, model , size/pitch)? Do you know the gear ration of your motors? 1.86 perhaps?

    New props

I did not tilt up the motors up high but I do often run one motor through the no wake areas. One point I would like to make about spun hubs is that there are hubs that spin under load where the bushing slips in the casting. Those are pretty easy to identify by applying throttle and thrust...

    New props

The original hubs are kind of potted in place ( like glued with a sealant) and can get out of alignment but not spin. I have had that occur on my SWS prop. One thing you didn't make clear is if the vibration occurs on one or both motors. To tell you have to run on one motor at a time. Also it...

    Prop size ?

Using the general rule of thumb, reducing the pitch by 2 inches would increase the revs by 400. That would still be out of spec. Are you sure all cylinders are firing?

    Transom thickness on a Gulfstream

Isn't that hull rated for 400hp max? In any case, chrome over brass would be fine but as a substitute, a plastic Marelon type fitting would also be fine especially if it isn't a major chore to routinely inspect and possible need to replace in a few years.

    Installing a windlass

The 6,mm,7mm, and 1/4 inch refers to the diameter of the link material.. The G4 spec defines the link inner length, outer length, width of link and thickness of link. There are many types of 1/4 chain but many are not G4 size. If the links are two long, the gypsy will have issues. If I remember...

    Installing a windlass

Looks nice except for that bolt with the power cables tie wrapped to it. Since the cables are in contact with the bolt and especially the threads, vibrations will result in abrasion of the insulation. If both sheaths wear all the way to the copper conductors, you will have one heck of a short. A...

Resolved!!! Was: Need help… Update: Reverse P-Trap in the Head Discharge??? Was: Holding Tank Question

So are you saying that you saw the correct part but because it was the wrong size, you bought the AAV at Home Depot? If so, that valve works differently. Since it is closed at rest and when under pressure, you shouldn't have the odors but, it weather or not it will prevent siphoning is a...

    Installing a windlass

Looks very nice. As I suspected the horizontal windlass is the better option. A comment about line and chain: Not all 1/4 inch chain is the right style for the Lewmar. It has to be 1/4 inch G4 spec. If you are going to spend as much a it will cost for the product and the install, I suggest you...

    Marlin cruising speed and economy

Those motors are not particularly fuel efficient. My guess is that the most 'efficient' spot is in the 3600 to 4200 range but that's only a guess. There are many factors that will affect your numbers.

Resolved!!! Was: Need help… Update: Reverse P-Trap in the Head Discharge??? Was: Holding Tank Question

I think the original vent was open normally and closed when there is pumping pressure . The valve you got at HD looks like an Air Admittance Valve and it is normally closed but opens when there is a vacuum in your plumbing. I don't think it serves the same purpose.

    Installing a windlass

The round trip cable run from the battery locker to the anchor locker could be 50 feet or close to that. The cable size for the V700 would be 6 gauge. Take a look at the Lewmar installation instructions and see if you feel comfortable...

    Installing a windlass

It can be quite challenging a job especially if you have to modify a locker lid. What does you bow look like today? Do you have a pulpit or anchor roller? I don't know your skill level and that will make a big difference. The first step is to see who has done it ( which is what you are doing...

WTB Express 360 any suggestions or comments?

I am surprised that your hull isn't affected by weight. I can't see how a full tank and a few fishing buddies wouldn't affect performance. Then again, it weighs almost 8 tons with motors, how's another ton of gas going to make that much difference:)

WTB Express 360 any suggestions or comments?

Probably a bit under powered. I guess that depends on what your requirements are.. Good point about the early model 350s. There are some fairly serious design issues. There are lots of posts about those issues. Yamaha does not make the F350 anymore.
