Looks like you have all the makings of a switch there, except for the plastic rocker. At least you’ll have all the wiring inside. Did you try pushing on those rubber boots, and see if anything happened? easy plug-and-play replacement for the switch.

If I recall, there are dip switches on the back of at least some of the Yamaha gauges, that have to be changed going from 2 stroke to 4 stroke. Or, maybe they are only for the number of cylinders, but they are there for something.

I am 99% sure you have a rocker switch to trim engine right below the gasket on the cowling. Mine is on the port side, more towards the front. Look for the switch here, at the 32 second mark. The tub will deform less on a flat surface, than on bags of mulch.

I use a ketch up bottle, with a long pointed spout like you see on a restaurant table, to top off my trim tabs.

Russ, unclear which motor doesn't have tilt/trim switch on the side. I thought all larger Yamahas had it. My '93 does.

Russ, take a piece of heavy weedeater line, hold a match to the end for a few seconds to take off the sharp edges, and use it to poke in the pee hole to see if there are any obstructions. Sounds a lot like my last doctor visit.
