Maybe this boat should not last this long

for s & g, i took a look at the '85 brochure. bow pulpits weren't listed as an option for any model and the bow lifting ring option was only listed for the smaller ones. not swearing on its accuracy (and fyi, i could give a list of bs build items on my '09, so not defending either). ron

Maybe this boat should not last this long

looks like part of a bow lifting ring? in the anchor locker for 30 years, could have started as stainless (it will rust), or not. good thing you found it the easy way  ron

    GW 330 Shopping

first, i don't purchase pre-owned. with that full disclosure. i think you may be better off with a late year model. there were obviously a lot of improvements and changes since the initial rollout. for instance, at some year they switched over to diesel genset. the play would be to expect...

    282 fuel tanks?

tanks should be on centerline. i don't think gw does any hull otherwise. you can check manual for certainty. you probably should play around to see your best running procedure. on my '02 232, i ran both engines on one tank then switched when empty. ran well that way. on the 330, had to...

    Nic in Fiberglass on Gunwhale

i can't see anything in the pic. i use this http://www.westmarine.com/buy/evercoat- ... 20_006_503 the buff is a very good match as long as it is not a very large spot. i do nicks all the time. very easy to use. good luck, ron

How to operate my Water heater?

speaking of bypass, inspect the heater directly. if it was bypassed, the hot water faucet will push water but not thru the heater. also, you may want to change the anodes. good luck, ron

Still can't get length of Sailfish

this came from the 1997 catalog. since pulpit was an option i would think length does not include. also need to consider engine overhang. best to call GW for best trailer length, they're very helpful. goo luck, ron

    hairline gelcoat cracks

hard to see, but from things i've seen in the past they do look like impact cracks. if so, probably deeper than just gel coat. if it were my boat i would definitely have it fixed. also, i would install some high quality dock fenders to absorb any impact. i've never used those big corner wheel...

Why is the covering over this wood support peeling off?

not an expert, but it looks like someone tried to do some kind of repair there. the troweled in filler. i would fully investigate that before resealing the covering. if all is good, get the best wet environment glue you can find. i've had this kind of peel off in all different stuff (marine...

Changing impeller on Genset 336 canyon

330 and haven't done it yet, but that should be in an enclosure and not up against a bulkhead. FP recommended removing the air intake tube that is right in front of the impeller housing on my year (2009). good luck ron

    multifunction displays

which chart plotter uses opencpn? or are you talking about a laptop? always personal preference, but as fishtales said, multiple mfd's give what you want and provide backup. i use two. helm real estate is always a factor no matter what you do. good luck, ron

265 express air conditioner who has one?

there are small dc units out there. don't know anyone using them. also, you could get one of the drop in hatch ac units and put an inverter in. either way, i think you will probably just be knocking some heat out, not cooling. but again, i don't know. good luck, ron

    Grady 336 fuel burn

ok, my last post on this. if you look at the published perf bulletin, the tested weight differential is 2.6K. these two hulls don't weigh a smidgen away from each other. you should be doing much better on fuel burn, not similar to a 330. focus on tabs and trim, makes a significant difference...

    Grady 336 fuel burn

Thruster, 2 a/c units, refrigerated boxes, 70 lbs radar and mount, about 20 gallons more fuel (around 120lbs.), 4blade props, and 6 years of bottom paint. adds up quick  just trying to help you out. ron

    Grady 336 fuel burn

the difference is more like 3K plus. i have 350's running xl4 blades. the 4 blades actually nick mpg as seasick noted. i'm heavier than the bulletins since i have everything on the boat (and a bunch of gear). i ran just under the perf numbers with the 3 blade stock props and same with the...

    Grady 336 fuel burn

you should be getting much closer to the perf bulletin numbers. are you tabbed correctly and trimmed out. my 330 runs at 1.0 to 1.1 mpg with 4 blades (and bottom paint). very close to the perf bulletin numbers. i run north of 8 tons wet, your 336 is a lot lighter. good luck, ron

275-- sliding, tossing --what to do?

agree with dennis. tabs require very little adjustment. and people moving around on a boat underway (not recommended because it's dangerous) will also shift attitude. happens on my 33 (and i yell at them to stop moving while underway). check that motors trim up equally, they aren't...

275-- sliding, tossing --what to do?

yes, more info. also, single or twin? that should be a fairly stable hull. ron
