2005 Grady 225 Tourney seems to sit low in the water

Is your bilge pump working? The older ones, '93', collect water forward, and do not have a forward pump. Mine only drains on the ramp, but does not sit low, certainly not with the scuppers underwater.

Front anchor eyelet problem on 226 Seafarer

I will check mine this week, and start opening the anchor locker and rinsing it off when I clean the boat at the end of the day.

Front anchor eyelet problem on 226 Seafarer

Lot of people going down the road at 70 mph, and that is the only thing holding the boat to the trailer.

Dual Anchor Pulpit line winder on Sailfish

Walk the docks in a big sailboat marina. They often have multiple anchor rollers on the bow.

Windlass on 268 Islander Year 1999

All the ones I have used, Lewmar, Horizon, etc., use a circuit breaker instead of a fuse. Usually mounted close together with the up/down switch. See if you have power to the hot side of the breaker, and go whichever direction that leads you. Is it possible that your breaker has always been...

Any express owners remove enclosure based on weather?

I have a 22 foot dual console Tournament, in NC, and I have no curtains, we just learn to duck. I can't imagine running a 33 in Florida for 16 years with the curtains up.

    Recommendations for a VHF radio

$200 will get a good one, with built in GPS, and a $25 rebate. $300 will get that, plus AIS tracking, and a 30 watt loud hailer/fog signaler and listen function, and a $40 rebate. https://www.thegpsstore.com/Standard-Ho ... P3968.aspx

    Recommendations for a VHF radio

You need to throw that radio in the garbage! High power on only two channels, stupidest thing I ever heard of on a boat. Get something like this, with a built in GPS, so you don't have to wire it to your other GPS to send emergency position. https://www.thegpsstore.com/Standard-Ho ... Radio.aspx

    Water inlet

I would be surprised if it had a fresh water tank in '85, my '93 does not. What kind of fitting is under the screw off cap?

    Changing Thru Hull

What would prevent you from removing the old, other than a bunch or 5200?

    Anchor rope and chain

I think that he wants the size, not the length. What kind of windlass?

Runnung Wire / Bow To Helm

Is there a fixture up forward, like a nav light, a windlass, or a cabin light, that is close to where you want to run the wire? If so, have someone hold the wires at each fixture, while you tug on the wires in the loom on the other end. If you find one that is retrievable, tie a pull cord to...

    Tips for Using Twins

The wider the motors are spaced, the easier the spin move, ie, a catamaran will spin much easier than a high performance boat with 2 motors close together. When the spin is almost complete, switch your throttle positions long enough to stop the momentum, instead of trying to guess where it will...

    wash down pump tournament 225

What year? My '93 came to me with pump mounted to the transom, inside the port jumpseat, with a Y valve right next to it to split the livewell from the washdown. When the pump failed, I replaced it with a pump screwed into the top of the thru hull seacock, feeding the same Y valve. The...

    Bimini Top Frame

They are jaw slides, but they should not slide once they are properly located, and tightened. Someone may have used a set screw, or a regular screw, that was not stainless steel, and now it is corroding. They should clean up, and are much preferable to plastic fittings.

Prop for tournament 192 with 200 outboard

Ten percent more displacement, and a bigger prop. 54 and 56 are basically the same, unless you are running side-by-side in the same sea state. Does his boat have the SV2 hull in '92?

    Bilges for Beginners

The amount of water in the bilge means nothing, if you don't know if the bilge pump has kicked on, and how often. You can get a simple device that counts how many times your pump cycles. Hell, today you can probably get smart phone alerts every time it kicks on.
