    Few questions from new member.

There is no hard and fast dates for determining what hulls may have issues and which ones won't. Only a good survey can 'say' . I put that in quotes because there are excellent surveyors and not as experienced ones. Grady may have changed the transom construction in later models but they also...

    Not my day, lower unit

worn off tip of sked is not an issue other than cosmetic. A bent skeg is another story. The sked is a lot more likely to wear than the bracket is likely to get damaged. The paint is also cosmetic for the most part, many skegs you see will have bare edges due to scraping bottom. Regarding costs...

    Shade Cover

How much are you willing to spend? Upscale electrically deployed telescoping shades can cost $10,000 or more for that hull with installation Less sophisticated, shade systems that are semi-permanently installed run about $2,00 , self installed. The quality of the material, workmanship and...

Electrical gremlins/switch panel replacement Sailfish 272

I suspect that the pump issue and the tilt issue are not directly related as far as common wiring goes. Regarding the loads powered by the switch panel, the first step is to check that there is power getting to the commons on each switch or at least the switches that are having issues. Usually...

What the heck did I get myself into?

No to gas stations and Yes to Gas docks usually won't pump the gas due to liability issues.

    Water in middle

Regardless of what the cause is, the pump running every 15 minutes is not a good thing and indicates a leak somewhere. 2 inches of water could mean a few gallons in a narrow shallow bilge to tons of water if the whole forward bilge is open. You can get an idea of how much water by looking at...

    Loosing motivation

If the trim ram is leaking, that is easier to reseal than the tilt piston. Seals are not too expensive but a good quality tool to unscrew the cap will cost a few bucks. If on the other hand the unit itself is shot or the rams are corroded, repairs can be costly assuming you can find a tilt...

    208 Adventure Top end

Plugs don't look bad at all. They look pretty new but I can't see the center ceramics all that well. Did you notice if any plugs wet wet, with raw gas perhaps? Try that new filter and see what happens but I really think you need to have technician look at your boat.

If you buy a bimini mounting knob in a marine store it is most likely stainless steel. Do not use anything else.

    NMEA Wiring

I think that the data flow is one way only. You would need the red wire on the icom connected to brown it seems on the Garmin, You also must connect the signal ground which is the shield (braid) of the wire bundle. Connect braid to braid between the two devices. t I suspect you need to...

    Hatch mold

There are a few good videos on BoatworksToday.com detailing the process of making a new hatch. Andy is quite the pro when it comes to fiberglass work. This is the making of the new hatch There is another later video on making the mold. You can spend days watching his videos.

    Polishing Lewmar 22lb Anchor

I forgot to mention that if the surface is not too bad, cleaning up oxidation and growth can be done using a random orbit or straight rotary sander. That works on props. If the finish was mirror, you will still have to buff with finer compound/polish. What you need to do depends on initial...

Replacing failed Guest Charge Pro 2722-B on-board battery charger

I have read articles about charging 12v batteries set up in series to provide 24, 36 etc voltage. In those cases, you can charge each battery with a 12 volt multi-bank charger as long as each bank has a separate ground. So depending on the application, separate isolated grounds for each bank are...

    anchor/anger management

If your chain is dragging on the pulpit, what is holding the anchor up when not in use. If you tie off the anchor, you can probably bungie the chain to take up slack. Perhaps you need a stainless rub plate to protect the surface. For better feedback, post a picture of your setup.

Replacing failed Guest Charge Pro 2722-B on-board battery charger

The separate ground leads makes it easier for me to understand how that arrangement can work. By sensing condition using both of the battery terminals, all the external variable like voltage drop across jumpers is eliminated. In addition, using pulsed charging the voltage and current states...

Replacing failed Guest Charge Pro 2722-B on-board battery charger

You made me smile. I just went through this a few months ago and although I was sure I noted what hole or indentations the various cables and hoses were in, I just couldn't get things to fit. Determined, I started over maybe ten times and after an HOUR all the parts lined up. next time, I guess...
