    No top end power

Yes but my previous experiences tell me that when the revs surge down and up, it is usually a fuel starvation issues. Spark issues tend to be constant; poor idle or inability to make max power/revs..Many electrical intermittent issues may cause immediate shut down. I guess the best first thing...

    tilt trim indicator

Wait a minute between going from all up to all down and vis versa when bleeding that way. It gives any air bubbles a chance to float up and get bled' As to the original description, the trim gauge will always read all bars when powered up, that is the gauge self testing. After that self test...

What is this and how serious is it?

I had a similar experience years back. During a survey, the surveyor pointed out some of his concerns and said to me. Do you want me to continue the survey? I knew what he meant and said "No, let's leave" I was new to boats at the time and the money I spent for the survey was money well spent...

    No top end power

The portable tank is a reasonable approach. Bypass the primer bulb also. My gut feeling is that you will still have issues but there are some causes that might allow the engine to run OK on a portable tank. That can happen when one or more of the fuel pumps are bad or there is an air leak. Since...

What is this and how serious is it?

Be glad you spent $700 and not th3 $32K. I know you are frustrated but I suggest you have patience and try to find something nearer to you. The market will improve later in the year.

    Sailfish 282 Repower to Single?

I am not sure why you say that twin motors don't let you rotate efficiently. They are much more effective than a single. If maneuverability is an issue, a bow thruster would help . Initial cost would be high and the savings in maintenance of a single vs twins would take a long time to recover...

    228 parts

It depends on the year for 'body' parts. If it is an older hull search the posts on this forum and also look at eBay. Some parts will be very difficult to find. Plumbing parts are generally available, they are not usually specific to a model and/or year. Things like pumps are readily available...

Cost for thorough cleaning and ceramic coating interior/exterior 1988 22' Seafarer Cuddy Cabin

I assume you meant 'up to 1500' and not 500. Sanding as mentioned can lead to gel coat damage. It is best to start with a finer polishing or rubbing compound and if that doesn't work, move to coarser grade, followed but finer grades' I like the Colonite products but in severe cases, they may...

    Gas Tank Issue

I don't think that will help much. If I read the symptoms correctly, either motor fails when it's source is set to MAIN but both motors work fine on AUX. IN addition all filters were changed but the problem remained the same. That tells me that it may not be bad gas since the problem would not...

what to replace raw water washdown/livewell pump with?

In general. the livewell pump and the washdown pumps are different models. One is rated for continuous duty (livewell) and smaller flow rates while the washdown would be designed for short duration/high volume use. Typically, the seacock has a dual output livewell pump directly mounted to it...

    Gas Tank Issue

If it is low fuel levels, add 10 or 15 gallons of gas to BOTH tanks and see if the problem goes away. The reason I suggest adding to both tanks is that you may not be using the aux when you think you are using the main. It's got to be something simple.

    Sailfish 272 Head issues

I just watched a Jabsco video on backflow problems and realized that I omitted one other possible cause of backflow and that is a blocked vent. My bad... For anyone interested here is a link to the video...

Cost for thorough cleaning and ceramic coating interior/exterior 1988 22' Seafarer Cuddy Cabin

I once was given advice on new construction products by a seasoned home builder. He said, " I don't use any new product until it has been tested in the field for 100 years"! OK that was in jest of course but it was quoted during the debacle of EFIS on new homes. Maybe you know what EFIS is but...

    Sacrificial Anode Skeg question.

I see a lot of lost anodes and often the results are not pretty. Often the captain doesn't know the tab is loose and two things can result: The anode falls off and hits the prop and that can cause damage to the prop and/or LU. The second bad result is that the anode isn't making a good...

Handrails and Rust...... How to address

I wanted to look at the data sheets to see if 4000 was a similar compound to 4200/5200 and it seems it isn't. I store 5200 in the freezer and it can last a long time, a year or more. The freezing doesn't hurt it but I don't know the 4000 would act the same way. 4000 is a new thing to me and I...

    Sailfish 272 Head issues

Depending on the type of head, the troubleshooting will be different. Assuming is is not a vacuflush and is electric, the simplest thing to check is the waste line to make sure it isn't clogged. That is easy to do but can be messy and stinky. Basically remove the waste line at the bowl and flush...
