    Re-power my 1999 Adventure 208

I went with a Yamaha F150 last year. I typically fish 3 guys and a full 38 gallon bait tank. Performace is as quoted on the Grady website. I'm also running SS 15 prop. I don't really run the boat hard, typically at 4000 rpm and 20-22 mph. I boat out of Southern California and also have a a1999...

Looking for 208 and finding scams

I have 1999 Adventure. It has a poly tank and greenwood in the transom. Not sure what year Adventures had the poly tank. I would take a long look at the transom and transom cap - make sure all looks good. I would also pry up all the hatches etc and look inside, is it wet, clean etc. Do a...

    Testing Bilge Float Switch

Seasick- same issue on my 208 - it drives me crazy though. I came out of 17 whaler that did not have a bilge so this is all new to me. After cleaning the boat I try to find the steepest hill I can to drain out any water that may have collected.

    Auto pilots

The 20 ft GW I have now came with an older Raymarine S1000 auto pilot. I use it all the time when fishing offshore. I arrive at my destination much more relaxed with it on.

Check your live well overflow 226 208 and others

Yes - I am pretty sure that the water accumulates as I wash the boat. I just can't get steep enough os an angle to fully drain on the way home.

Check your live well overflow 226 208 and others

Yep - agree Summer. I also changed my hoses in those areas, the elbows and other fittings were fine when I did. Even after I did that, I found moisture - it was coming thru those pry up hatches the best I could tell when washing the boat. 2 trips out and so far dry. Lets hope it stays that...

Check your live well overflow 226 208 and others

Good advice. I had some water in there and it came through the pry up hatches. I keep my live well valve closed unless I am using it. I check those spaces periodically.

    Time for new batteries

in terms of over charging one battery over another, I believe that is where the Battery isolator comes in. The Grady is the 2nd boat I have installed this on. From the Blue Seas website. "Battery Isolators, Automatic Charging Relays (also called ACRs , combiners, or voltage sensitive...

    Time for new batteries

I currently have 2 dual purpose batteries on my 208. I keep them on a charger when not on the water, mostly solar in my storage. I also installed a blue seas battery isolator so both are charged and isolated when on the water. I run 1 and sometimes 2 bait tanks when tuna fishing, vhf and...

OEM or after market in your boat repairs

I'll buy all OEM Yamaha parts and get it serviced by Yamaha dealer until my warranty expires (I guess the exception was the Lowarance NMEA cable to the motor...). My boat is 20 years old, I will but the best components I can find for it. Take the bang plate, alot of folks do not go back to...
