    Garboard drain plug!!

Yeah - that one worries me.. I launched my old whaler with the stern straps still connected to the trailer, noticed when I walked on and the trailer was floating with the boat... 2 weeks ago, I left my motor down when pulling out of the water, not one of my finer moments.....

    Small Offshore Comparison’s

I have a 199 208 with 2019 Yamaha F150. On an average run of 60 or so miles with 50% trolling at 7-8 mph and the rest at 18-20mph off-shore, I get 3 mpg. This is with 2 adults and a full 38 gallon bait tank. It suits my needs just fine. I do not have a hard top (I wish I did.....)

    Anchor Locker weather stripping?

Just curious - I am trying to limit the amount of water that sits in the bottom of my boat, too low to flow to the rear bilge at rest. I think it is coming from the anchor locker when I wash the boat. Has anyone ever used weather stripping to better seal that anchor hatch? Is that a crazy...

    Small Offshore Comparison’s

I have a 208 and fish out of Southern CA. I routinely take it out 30+ miles, but our weather is predictable and I know when not to go out. Sounds like you are more daring than me and I think the weather is less predictable in FLA, I would also recommend a boat with closed transom.

    Need a plan

I'm with Legend. If you have good compression, a decent mechanic can address the cooling issue. I would not rebuild or replace until I I was sure that was looked at carefully.

What do you use to clean and wax the gelcoat? And the floor boards?

I have not looked into tournaments this year. Last year I did the Make a Wish, I came up blank in that tourney. It was a fun time though. This year I am only fishing with my son, so we will see if we sign up.

What do you use to clean and wax the gelcoat? And the floor boards?

I fish out of Oceanside a lot. Oceanside has the campground right at the marina. You could also get a guest slip at Oside and boat camp. There's also the Carlsbad Campsite. What time of year are you thinking. We got some yellowtail about 10 miles out of Oside a few weeks back. No luck...

My boat is at that age

My 208 is a 1999 model. I bought it used and put a new motor on it. I am also slowly replacing stuff, access hatches, electronics, scupper hoses etc. I recently found a drip from scupper into the bilge, I checked the hoses and they are incredibly durable and look new, I just ended up using...

    Compression Tester

I agree with Seasick, buy tools that last. You can also borrow tools from some local auto stores. My dad was a mechanic and all he would buy was Snap On. All that said, I got a Harbor Freight model for the convenience of having one handy and it has been consistent for the 10-15 times I used...

    Replace trim

Sparkdog has a point. Are you sure you need a new trim unit? What are the symptoms? Does it move at all in any direction, any noises? It could be a simple relay needs to be replaced.

    Windy ap

I agree Doc - all those factors add up to a decision we make! I'm still trying to figure it out and make sense of it.

    Replace trim

I had the same the same issue on an older Johnson 74 HP. It was over my head, they had to remove the motor from the transom in my case to do it correctly. Your set up may be different depending on the motor.

Testing aft bilge pump on 330 Express

I do the rag trick back at the ramp to run fresh water thru the bilge pumps. Also started doing the same for bait and washdown pumps. A great tip a member here suggested!

    Windy ap

I always go thru the same process, check multiple apps etc to get a feel for the wind. I also check sailflow.com just as another data point. I'll look at all layers to get a feel, if short interval between the swell, or mph over 10 - I reconsider going out, not comfortable for me on my 20...
