Bought a boat that had them above. They had been baked into the gelcoat by the sun. All the buffing and wet sanding still left a raised ghost. Mine go below the rubrail and above the stripe.

As others have said, East Penn makes both the DEKA and WM batteries, which is why the specs are identical. Check Sams Club - the East Penn "Duracell" branded batteries (again, same battery) are substantially cheaper.

I've used the solderless centerpin connectors from Shakespeare for years. As long as you take your time and crimp carefully, they work as good as a soldered connection.

Another vote for Standard Horizon. You can get the GX1850GB, which is both N2K and has a built in GPS, for $225 on Amazon. Tough to beat that deal.

They are worth every penny. Did both my tach and speedo. Good as new.

Guess I'm lucky....my local shop with a Yamaha master tech will happily work on my motor, and gets it fixed right the first time. They have, however, stopped working on older OMC motors, (they were a Johnson dealer for many years) but that's because parts availability has become a big issue.

I had one with a 200 HPDI....when propped properly it's a 40-41 mph boat. I wouldn't go any smaller.

I would reinforce it...either with a pulpit (ideal) or with an aluminum pad.
