I owned an '01 226 with a 200 HPDI. I ran it with a Mirage Plus 17 prop. Top speed was 42 at 5500 but you had to trim the engine waaaaay up. Otherwise, you would get 5100 and 39 mph.
It was a great boat....good luck with it.
My 180 had a 3500 lb axle under it. The trailer weighed just over 500 lbs (it was aluminum) so my net capacity was right around 3000. It was plenty of trailer.
In the NE, you don’t see the same number of aluminum trailer manufacturers that we see down south. You see a lot of Ventures (made...
It goes without saying, but remove those screws with a hand tool and not a battery operated screwdriver or nut driver. One spark from the brushes can ruin your day.
Mine have one screw and the flap can be removed. No need to replace the brass tubes unless they are cracked. I replace the flaps every couple years as they get brittle.
Florida registrations will show the HIN for the hull and VIN for the trailer. Florida title for the boat will show the HIN.
A pencil tracing of the HIN off the back of the boat is generally sufficient.
Every 192 I've been around, including the one I owned many years ago, would run 41-42 with a 150. If you are maxed out at 36, something's not right. What RPMs were you turning? What hole is the motor mounted in?
Back in the late 80s the fuel gauges were separate from the speedo. My 190 had a fuel switch as well. I rewired it to an accessory lead off the key. Worked fine and I just left the toggle switch “on”.
I think the max recommended RPM range for that motor is 5000-6000. If you can only turn it up to 5500 rpm you either need a lower pitch prop or to raise it up.
I'd raise it up one hole and see how it does....if you don't like it you can always lower it.
For the record, my 225 OX is in the...
My 192 (actually a 190 as it was pre Sea-V2) had a 150 2 stroke. The F150 is lighter and makes a true 150 at the prop. I'd go that route. As SmokyMtnGrady opined, the I4 F200 is also an option.
In the past, Tabman would have known the exact length and helped you get your hands on them. RIP
But - it might pay to reach out either to GW Customer Service or to Bennett....they may know the exact length and/or make you a deal on replacements.
What year 208? GW changed the opening and made it bigger in 2000 or 2001.
Here are some pics of both the smaller (97-99 dash opening) as well as the redesigned bigger opening.
As I recall, I had to remove the instrument panel and work from the top down when I was installing the VHF and GPS in...
I've run a 223 with an F250....the scuppers will be right at the water line....you may get a bit of water on your feet if you stand in the back of the boat.
Swap wise, the steering will bolt right up. The existing harness and controls can also be used. Some of the tachs can be switched...
A properly maintained OX66 will provide years of reliable service. I've owned several....my current one has 1200 hours on it.
Does it start first try? Yes
