    2004 282 Sailfish Repower--Mercury 300 V8's

Congrats on the new horses! I know you said you are heavily loaded, but you are over propped. I would drop to an 18.

    1996 voyager rear storage tub?

I can't confidently recall. I can't remember if it was an aluminum or plastic frame with a screen. Regardless, you will likely need to or have someone fab them for you. With the right glue, screen, and plastic it should be doable. The original bin for the corner was very deep. I would guess at...

    1996 voyager rear storage tub?

Yes. There was a removable bin there. The 258 had the same dimensions, but different hull (full running surface and possibly more). From the helm aft was also redesigned. If you are looking for a replacement, good luck.

    Repowering a 330

Keep the 350s. I'm not a Yamaha guy, but wouldn't hesitate to own that version of those engines. You will get a reminder to replace the flywheels when you have accumulated enough hours in the rev range that creates the harmonics. If you avoid that range, they will almost never need to be...

    GW rounded keel

My guess is that the round keel is the same premise behind the sv2 hull.

    Wash down pump :o(

I'll check for 12v before I pull it, but I'm leaning towards the switch. The PO would make long offshore trips for a day or 2 at a time. He would never shut engines off while out. It wouldn't surprise me if someone left the washdown pump on while on those trips and it short cycled constantly...

    Wash down pump :o(

I don't suspect it is that because the "Fonzi Fix" (wacking the switch housing) usually got it going again. For good measure, I did wiggle wires to no avail. Hookup, is that the right switch for a 12v application? I do suspect that could be the issue, but was surprised to see the switch looking...

    Wash down pump :o(

My Sure flow pump didn't work when I got the boat a few years ago. I had planned to buy another and replace it over the winter, but then thought I should check the pump 1st before buying another. I pulled the pump and took it apart. It looked new in and out. I bench tested it and it spun up...

    Suzuki 200 vs 225

Dennis is spot an as usual. V6 2 stroke outboards typically made better low end power than a 4 cylinder 4 stroke equivalent, but peak horsepower was the same. The v6 225 Suzuki will likely make more low end power than the df200 4 cylinder, but at the trade off of weight. The v6 225 is much...

    Oil change in water

Word is Wix makes an excellent filter, but here and elsewhere people have concerns about flow rates under certain conditions. That said, I have never read or heard of engine damage from an equivalent filter that starved an engine for oil without being defective.

    Oil change in water

I know a guy who uses the high performance version of Wix 57145. They can be had at the local auto parts store.

    Oil change in water

Nice find and nice design. Did you not change the oil filters? My only beef on the Zuke 4-pots is the location of the oil filter. For such a well engineered engine, it sucks. It would be great if someone with an old, tired set would experiment with a filter relocation mount to see if it has any...

    Honda 225 4 stroke

As mentioned, that is a lot of weight,so check the resting angle of the boat, and see if the rear scuppers are underwater with a few people standing aft. I'd then want to run the boat to see if the weight makes the boat ride bow high and if it can be corrected with engine and/or trim tabs...

    Voyager 248 Speed Question / 300hp

We had a bare bones 99 248. With a 225 ox66, it would hit 46 mph with a cupped 17m prop. With a 300, you should be able to hit 45-50 depending on options, engine, and overall set up.

Cabins of the 226/228 vs. 232 vs. 248/258 vs. 268

The 248/258 has the most room for sleeping if you put all the cushions in. At 6'1", I had no issues stretching out. The ceiling height is about 5'6". We had one. The 268/270 has a smaller sleeping area. My head touchess the head wall when I stretch out. The ceiling height is about 6'3". Many...

    manual to electric

I might be wrong, but I think you have some confusion with the components of your flush and waste system. Looks like you have a manual Jabsco head pump. This isn't used to pump waste overboard, but rather to the holding tank. The holding tank has a separate macerator that pumps waste overboard...

Trailering a 1992 Grady White Sailfish

The dumb thing is the cost of parts. The cost of the different systems isn't too far off. Since it is offered as an option, you get gouged when ordering new. If EOH was offered based on actual cost when ordering, it would only be a $300 upgrade. Sort of like the $2k wheel upgrade on a new car...

Feels like spun hub but isn't

FWIW, my props lose bite in certain types of chop along with load conditions too. They work great 80% of the time, but the other 20% is when I really need them to perform well. I haven't read all the details of your post, but did you talk to the prop shop about adding a little cup? Cup can be...

Feels like spun hub but isn't

I'll throw this out there - your prop is worn out. Seriously. If you have been running the same prop for 27 years, the diameter of the prop has changed due to wear. My guess is the diameter has changed enough to change the geometry of the prop, and/or enough thickness of the prop has changed...
