    228 Custom Back Drop

Big thanks to Rick Gianola at Gianola's Boat Canvas here in Reno for making my custom back drop/slat back canvas for my Seafarer. Appreciate the little things like a new tote bag to stuff it in and sewn in handles to stretch the fabric over the transom corners. And a great transition where the...

    Difficult time of year

Good point on the retirement, but even solid portfolios got wiped out from the Great Recession, and many folks I know were set back to the Stone Age including myself, and nervous about investing since. As my brother in law told me "80 is the new 60" as far as retirement age. Since I am out...

    Eisenglass bug removal

Worked yesterday cleaning my eisenglass with West Marine RX Plastic Cleaner, couldn't get the final bug remains off the front sections. I trailer it going up to 60 mph, so the bugs hit it hard and have been lazy about cleaning it. I don't wanna scratch it so hoping someone has an answer that...

    228G Bottom Paint Removal

Found this style domed on the web today for $280 bucks as another option and would save me some coin. Grey center color, but that doesn't seem to bother me.... Anyone care to give their 2 cents on the look I appreciate it :)

    Craziest place you ever fished

Whimsical thread about the place that was off the norm for your regular fishing. I'll start lol Watamu Kenya 1989. At that time it was the only place where the grand slam of billfish were caught on the same boat and same day. I took a locals bus from Mombasa, was the only person on it that was a...

    Scratched Compass

Yes! May I add that most of the time you are fishing in dense fog as thick as pea soup. Easy to get disoriented.

    228G Bottom Paint Removal

Ready to grab a set of the updated logos. Price increased, but I messaged Taylor Marine on EBay to see if they would honor the lower price. Fingers crossed. Then I will see how it looks and figure out the pinstripe after sitting with it for a bit.

    Scratched Compass

I was contemplating purchasing a new low profile compass, the one on my boat is pretty clunky size wise. After measuring and finding new diameters were smaller, I decided to polish out the globe where it was really scratched up from contact with the cover. I only took one pic after I polished...

    Pyramid Lake

Yes the Willows~good call! My son reminded me that campground was our first Boy Scouts weekend outing together when we first moved to Reno. The Paiute Tribe is always so generous letting our troop camp and fish for free. If they could just maintain the docks, that would be helpful. Sure you...

    228 repower

If you remove the 2 rear jump seats (just lift right off), you might be able to see what you need to with a flashlight. To remove the livewell takes about 20 mins if you care. I've removed my livewell a bunch of times for various projects. It's not so bad.... Putting down a towel over the lip...
