    Windlass Installation

This is how it is mounted on my 228, as you can see you don't need a pulpit to mount it in the same place as mine. The problem will be when you retrieve the anchor you will make a mess on the gelcoat, you have to have something to keep it away so it doesn't hit the hull. I don't know where you...

    2006 F250 issue. Update

Did you check the fuel filter inside the cowling? Tank breather? I know to you it feels like fuel problem but don't discount spark plugs if you haven't changed them put a new set in , they are cheap and easy to do.

    228 Baitwell Aerator Addition

Good work Lee. In future if you need to enlarge a hole you can fix a piece of plywood on one side for the holesaw guide drill bit to stay in place .Of course what you did worked just as good.

Live well filling up when running. 1999 272 Sailfish

Mine has a valve on the fill pipe inside the tank but I don't use it . I shut the seacock if I don't want water in the tank . When traveling above 10 knots you don't need to have the pump on enough water comes in to keep the livies in good shape.

New guy here with a few questions about a 228 Seafarer

A late model 228 with hard top full tank of gas and water weighs 5300 lbs . Carolyn Ray <cray@gradywhite.com> Hello Jerry, Yes Sir, That is the heaviest fully loaded weight of this boat. Full of fuel, water, largest engine package and all options. Kind Regards, Carolyn Ray...

    Electric over hydraulic

1000 PSI is for drum brakes , 1200 & 1600 are for disc brakes. Does anyone use drum brakes on a boat trailer? Unless it is used on fresh water you are wasting your time. If you are to use drums it is much cheaper to use electromagnets, they work very well on heavy trailers and caravans.

    228 Baitwell Aerator Addition

The factory fitted livewell has the outlet in the middle of the tank as per picture previously posted. The location is not a problem as long as it is at the lowest part of the tank and even if it isn't no big deal it means you may have a few drops of water in the tank when you pull the pvc pipe...

    Heading out in a bit

KY summed it up perfect. I feel sorry for you , you have a lot of bad luck. It would kill me buying a boat and not using it for 14 months. I put mine in the water ( on the river) the day I picked her up for testing and fishing the following week after changing the fuel filters, spark plugs...

    228 Baitwell Aerator Addition

You are getting there Lee, Just one thing the livewell outlet looks a bit small for my liking , to make sure the tank doesn't overflow it has to be 1.5". In the picture it looks about the same diameter as the inlet , if that's so it will not work. Use the same diameter as the scupper hose.

    Seafarer 228 Handling Advice

KY got it right on the reverse , trim it all the way up, especially if you have a pre 2012 model , the one with the F/G swim platform. My new boat with the aluminum swim platform is a lot better . The bracket on the new boat is pointy underneath ( the older F/G is flat) and the motor is further...

Replacing a Seastar Helm - Anyone Done it?

Same here I will only use Seastar fluid I used 1.5 bottles to flash when I installed auto pilot. You maybe able to find the exact fluid in some other brand but not worth the hassle to save a few $$.

    Goodbye ETEC

That's what happens when you try to sell ( force) something that your customers don't want to buy. The very same thing happened to GM here in Australia. They went from number one brand to shutting shop in a matter of 17 short years.

GW 2012 Fisherman 230 Rear Starboard Well to Livewell Conversion

You can buy a specially made PVC tube with fitting on the bottom and a grill on the top. The bottom is threaded and screws in to your outlet . She has a slot as well so when you want to let the water out you only unscrew it a little so your baitfish don't go down. As for supply of raw water you...

    Chasing down an electrical issue

A bit of advice Russ, When you say you will clean terminals with a dremel, that takes off all the tinning and exposes copper then copper will corrode much easier/quicker and it will give you more problems . Not saying you shouldn't clean terminals/connectors, you should but after you put them...

    Chasing down an electrical issue

That means it trips the breaker as soon as it goes on . In that case you have a short somewhere between that button as you say and the bilge , the bilge itself could be faulty. You can check that by connecting the bilge pump direct to a 12 volt battery if it works and doesn't get hot then it...

    Auto pilots

Yes I mean 2-3 knots pulling live bait for Marlin, she will still hold course but if there is wind she will turn the steering port to starboard to keep course. At 7-8 kn pulling lures no problem at all.

    Chasing down an electrical issue

Turning off or looking at the breaker is not going to prove anything because the bilge float switch still has power. To eliminate if the bilge pump is your problem take the fuse off not the breaker near the helm. Somewhere at the rear on your boat near the main battery switch ( the one that says...
