    Opinions needed on Etec

Those 2-smokes are good motors and the weight savings are nice on older hulls. Depending on the application the Etecs will out perform a comparable 4-stroke. The downside will be a little more noise and the oil. I have one of each (Opti/zuke) and they both have pros and cons. They don't make...

    I/O to Outboard

If you want to do it correctly your looking at a new transom/bracket before the motor/rigging. As someone that has been rebuilding boats most of my life I wouldn't want to dump that type of money into a boat like that unless it was free. Resin prices are up 4x, aluminum is similar, brackets are...

    Transom Drain Fitting - 1991 23 Gulfstream

If you have a trailer boat the stainless version that retainers the plug is really nice. I installed one on my little boat 12 years ago and it has been great.

    228 SeaDek

If you get an air bubble the installers just hit it will a razor knife. The adhesive seals it and you can't spot it.

    228 SeaDek

That pressure sensitive adhesive is some odd stuff. On your large sections try to rig something to apply even pressure. They miscut one of my pieces and they installed it while I waited for the replacement. They didn't use the roller on that piece and it was very easy to remove.

Nice! Do you have one of those weighted rollers?

    Bee repellent?

It seems to help a bit with spiders too. They are terrible at my storage facility and their crap stains badly.

    Real Repower Cost, Twin 250's

The best prices are with International Marine. I have yet to see anyone beat their pricing. Some have complained about their customer service. I didn't have any issues but could see how there could be communication issues.

    Deck repair dilemma

Kiwigrip - I was in their page 12 years ago and getting ready to use it again. A little harder to clean but much better grip and easy application/repair.

    Repowering 24' Offshore

    I wouldn't recommend it. I felt the 225 on my 24' was a dog.

    Real Repower Cost, Twin 250's

It is nuts out there!! Look at the auto market if you want a laugh. My 2013 Tundra seems like it didn't depreciate--lol My son wants a full size truck and has around 10k to spend. Not bad for a high school senior but it won't buy much. Everything has 200k miles in his range.

    Real Repower Cost, Twin 250's

Give International Marine a call. I paid $20k out the door and rigged for a zuke300. At the time they were $3k-$5k cheaper than my local dealers. I'm sure the grandpa Joe tax brings those closer to $25k now.

    Before or After ???

It works better after. I have one before on my small boat and those pull better than push.

    What could Grady do better?

For me I would like them to focus more on fishing. It would help them get some market share for the under retirement age buyers in Florida. They really seem to lag behind for the serious fisherman and younger demo.

    Burn Rate

I have the newer style 20p. You actually have the best pitch for that setup. I can't get the last 400-500 RPM.

That's with a 300zuke on an Explorer without a Hardtop.

    Breakaway Anchor

This is correct. My father just retired after 40+ years with his 100ton. Anchoring in hard bottom and swiss cheese in the GOM never losing an anchor. Now his dumbass son...lost 2 anchors in back to back weekends a couple years ago on his Grady :(

Fixing soft spot with flex seal

I could see on a small lake boat. A lot of the pongooners have outdoor carpet over PT wood anyway. As others have said, you wouldn't have any strength. The deck would be a trampoline.

I need new Batteries for my 228

Optics also draw voltage differently when running. If I remember correctly at idle the voltage draw is slightly more than the charge. Weak or incorrect batteries on an Opti will have you chasing ghosts...... unfortunately I have seen that ghost. Lol
