    Steering and trim tab fluid

Ya, Grady decided to put the res under a compartment. It has to be removed to fill. Tabman before his passing gave me that tidbit. He said it is usually far easier with only needing fluid and a wrench.

    Steering and trim tab fluid

No - hose from the stern before the bulkhead fitting. The pump will draw the fluid out of the quart.

    Steering and trim tab fluid

Use the ATF on the tabs and fill from the rear. Much easier than taking that pump out or messing with syringes and droppers. Stick the hose in the quart and run raise the tab on that side.

    GreatGrady think tank question? Outriggers?

I would say the only downside to the hardtop mounted version is the up keep (Not that there's much). A lot of people don't ever use them and they can lockup. My brother in law bought a Sheaffer and had to send them in to be refurbed. That's gonna be a nice setup!!

    Higher Fuel Prices

....supply and demand-- Lol If you believe that I have some land for you. When supply and demand are manipulated it becomes a bad Tshirt slogan.

    Updating stereo on boat 228

I couldn't imagine not having a system going fishing. Making long runs and hitting the sandbars before the afternoon rain in the summer. Spring and fall fishing down here is hard to beat---but summer has better residents. Lol

Florida "Save the Reef" pump out

Not really. Since Floridians don't typically live there anymore it's filled with weekly rentals. They stick it to the out of towners. I stayed at a place run by Canucks and they charged per/min to wash the boat down. It's not the Keys I grew up with.

ideas for more fish storage on 226 Seafarer?

The storage on most of the Grady's is pretty limited. The coolers really don't hold ice well either. I would go with a big rotomold cooler or if your really serious a Frigid Rigid. I use mine as a rigging station and an extra seat.

    Where to put the phone

Just a quick issue I had that could help someone else. I have a USB charging port in my switch panel. On a summer trip there was a quick Florida pop up storm. My phone was on charge and moisture was getting on the usb/charger connection. Th USB port started to smoke—-I pulled it and quickly...

Seeking bracket photos (inside and detached)

5200 should go back on when its reapplied as well. I had a struggle with mine, but it ended up being 2 bolts hidden by the live well :( 5200 wasn't all the hard to remove with some wedges cut from 2x4, fishing braid and some debond. The bad part is if one of the bolts get stripped in the...

Considering Grady White...would like some feedback

I have been out on the Cobia 296 a bunch. I have a family member with one. I think the quality is very similar to the Grady. As others have said it's an above AVG production boat. The customer service from my experience would be on par as well. He improperly loaded dive tanks on a previous...

    1987 GW Offshore 24 (242GS): 200 HP 4-stroke OB too small?

My boat is very similar and I thought the 225 was underpowered. It didn't give me enough control in sloppy weather. I couldn't imagine a 200. Calm days with light use the 200 would get by.

    New boat tool set

I have used the plastic pieces and also the gel packs that come in electronics. Both can be found cheap on Amazon. Zerust Rust Prevention Plastabs 1" x 3" - Pack of 10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ULSW6FS/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_ZASR27WNXC0SY5Z77718

    New boat tool set

The same cheap socket set has been on the boat for over 10 years. When it rusts I'll pitch it and buy another. My father lived at sea 7-10 days at a time when I was growing up. He always just had regular craftsman stuff. The issue was always finding storage that had stainless hinges more...

I took myself off Facebook a few years back and came back for groups/market place during the past year. There are a few fiberglass groups and wood working groups that have been beneficial for my hobbies. My son and I are redoing my(his) Mako for his fishing needs. My boat had well over 100k hits...

I enjoy THT for the most part. I have been on forums since the days of BBS and tend to stay away from the trolls. The deals thread might be the best thing on the net over there. I have scored some great deals over the years. Forums for the most part are dieing a slow death. Most of the...

Fusion, Garmin XM weather puck and plotter

I had a XM puck on my Mako for a season. It connected to my Garmin and I had an AV the came off the XM lead. This was pre-nema. I would assume the XM would be shared across the network.

It's not too far off but it's because the boats were good enough to hang around for 20+ years and they might need a transom now. Besides a design flaw on the models that have the bang plate most transom issues are user error. Lots of Grady yard yacht's around Florida. I will say I think GW...
