    First Seafarer Question

Yes! The cuddies move the captain forward a bit. I agree that the SV2 is very dry. The spray seems to hit towards the stern when you really crush a wave. Whoever is in our beanbag chair will wear it now and again, but not the captain.

    Roughest Seas You’ve Endured - Seafarer 228?

Thats so spaced out it's not that crazy. 6 footers in the Gulf and there is a new Grady reef.

Anyone mount a big amplifier in a Grady?

I had a Polk audio amp on my Mako and it sounded amazing. I believe it was a PA660. It was on a 17' boat so it was in a moist environment. I ended up getting about 5 years out of it.

    First Seafarer Question

They call it the Tampa chop in my area. In the summer when the west and east coast winds collide it gets a little snotty. Usually just that quick 2ft chop. I have been on plenty of boats over the years and haven't been impressed by my 244 SV2.

    Scupper ball valve

I have those on my little boat and they work well in that situation. With your boat the deck should be much higher than the scuppers so water really shouldn't come backup onto the deck. Some people complain about the ball rattling around when they open and close. I have never noticed this in...

Anyone mount a big amplifier in a Grady?

That's a good amp for the price! Has some advantages over the Class D more expensive JL. I had a JBL and I'm currently installing a Infinity. I have it installed in the cabin under the fuse panel. I should be finishing it up this week and I'll try to take a pic. I also have Fusion black box...

New Electronics in '97 Sailfish 272.

UGH! Another draw back to older Grady ownership. You have a 27' boat and there isn't a lot of room for electronics like on a CC. If you took that entire area where you mocked the 9" could you go larger? There seems to be a lot of wasted space on the sides. Add a piece of material that covers...

Mounting Trolling Motor on a 255

My friends brother is a guide and just did the 96" Rhodan on his big Yellowfin.

    208 trim tabs

On a smaller boat thats on a trailer I would go with electric tabs. They are much more responsive and have a smaller foot print. I have had a set for 10 years on my '17 without a hiccup. My Bennett's have been good for their age but have needed much more maintenance.

    Higher Fuel Prices

It would be nice if we could reopen a pipeline. :) With fish closures, red tide and gas prices it feels like I need to "winterize" a Florida boat.

    Plastic Fuel Tanks

Plastic tanks like everything have pros and cons. My main concern with a plastic tank is a complete failure. Where the fittings mount can be a weak spot. Repairing a plastic tank? I'll pass on any repair. Mounting a plastic tank can require a bit more planning as well depending on the boat...

    Repair or replace transom?

I would replace the transom core from the outside and then repair the crack in the skin on the inside. That is a really odd crack you have there! Usually, the washers will start to appear like they are pushing in as the core rots--not the case here.

    Explorer 24 ( 1992) Fuel Tank

I have an original on my '93. I'm going larger and sliding it forward into the aux space. It's not a bad idea to just get it done. "Cleaning" the outside of the tank just gives a false sense of security IMO.

    The Walk Around Cuddy R.I.P.

....I sleep on my WA, but I'm a Floridian. The type that grew up without AC and camped in the keys during the summer. ;) The WA has pros and cons like anything else and I'm sure can be said about the DCs. Either way in my area people think you're from the Great Lakes when you have a Grady WA or...

    12v coffee maker?

Always over size inverters and get a sine wave. I run my full size garage frig on one during storm power outages.

    Dekit

Got the replacement piece finally installed. Fishing is pretty much shut down on the West Coast of Florida....boat hasn't been getting used.

    Fuel tank alteration

To compound the issue is the poor position of the operator on a cuddy. Being further forward you differently feel the weight distribution issues. I was going to throw some weight up front to offset the motor. I get good fuel burn and don't really push it all that much. Would look a better ride...

    12v coffee maker?

    ......just use a inverter.

    Fuel tank alteration

I ran into the same issue on my boat. I don't have the water issue but IMO is rides like shit. I was going to add a 120-150 gallon and move it forward.
