    Purchase of 2004 Sailfish

Do you get the Yamaha guaranty for new motors? Just curious.

    Electronics cost

Was the boat new or used? Does it already have an electronics package? If so, the estimates and suggestions will be different. And as mentioned, you need to define your needs and wants.

    gelcoat repair advice

Using MarineTex would be a similar fix and can be purchased in white color. Since the area will be bottom painted, the color doesn't matter till someone sands the bottom paint off.

    Removing Thru Hulls for resealing

Sometimes, you can fit a pliers into the hole and then spread the handles to make it tight against the walls of the thru hull. Then you need a bar or something similar to hold onto the handles. It is OK to use Marelon thrus...

Yamaha 300 HP not full going down

Interesting. I haven't heard about that issue. I did check that the assembly is the same part number for both models.

    Removing Thru Hulls for resealing

There is a plumber's tool called a spud wrench. It has multiple sections of increasing diameters that mar (probably will) fit the inside of the thru and grab onto the inside 'fingers'. Available at Home...

    Restoration

When you talk about having a boat 'restored' that can amount to a lot of expense. I can't tell what restoration work your boat needs especially since you say it is in very good condition. Your boat is 35+ years old and probably has more issues than you are currently aware of. All that aside...

WEMA --- NO MORE ...for the individual customer. Been sold

Several years ago WEMA was purchased by KUS. Consolidation in the marine industry has been pretty common. A few names that come to mind are Bennett ( now Yamaha?) , Shurflow (now Pentair), Jabsco (Xylem) and more. In many cases, the level of support has suffered.

    gelcoat repair advice

Do I see fibers exposed or just resin over fiberglass? If the former, to do the job correctly you should get a qualified glass person. If there are no exposed fibers, you can go the cheap route and use MarineTex and then bottom paint.

    Windless on a 180 sportsman?

If you need your anchor to take hold in 100 foot depths, you will need a lot more than 200 feet of rode. As also mentioned, I doubt you will have enough anchor locker capacity for all that line. There is a heck of a difference in suitability for deep sea fishing between a 30 or 45 foot boat and...

Yamaha 300 HP not full going down

You need to fill the oil and bleed the system. There are instructions in the service manual but the process is simple. Raise the motor, deploy the tilt stop for safety sake, remove the tank filler cap and fill up the tank till it overflows ( use ATF transmission fluid. Get the original AFT, not...

Yamaha 300 HP not full going down

I am not convinced thatgrease will make a difference. In fact, you should not put a lot of grease on those rods with the exception of a little bit on the end. Of course if the piston rods are corroded, they could be stuck but that would be obvious when examining the shafts. My first guess would...

Wire from console to port side of 306

I would be hesitant to cut a hole in a stringer. Before I would go to that extreme, I would try to determine how other cables are routed. One example might be the windlass cabling. If you need to get to the bow area port side, also follow the navigation light wires. It is possible that port side...

The top plastic is just a dust cover over the solenoids and wiring). The lower clearish plastic is the oil tank. So... If crack in upper, no big deal. By not working do yu mean that nothing happens when you activate ( no motor noise) or you hear noise but tabs don't move. Depending on the...

1993 Tournament 223 Helm Seat Pedestal

Are you saying that the outer diameter of the pedestals is not 2 7/8 inch? That tape measure you show is not betting used correctly. Pick a number like 1 inch on the tape and use that lined up with the outer edge. Now note where the opposing outer edge of the pipe lines up on the tape. It should...
