Helm Master issue - GPS Unstable

When you say 'Yamaha GPS antenna' do you mean the built-in antenna on the CL7? The internal antenna in the CL7 may not be the best option since it is probably not as reliable as an external signal would be. Is the issue something new or has it always acted up.

    Grady Fire.

Once the fiberglass starts to burn, there isn't much you can do. The structure will burn to the water line which that boat did and fill with water which will extinguish what is left of the superstructure. The foam will keep the hull from completely sinking. It is really scary to see how fast a...

    Crack below Bow eye

I wonder if the bow eye was used as a lifting eye and it wasn't optioned as a lifting eye. Regardless, it needs to be checked out.

    Crack below Bow eye

It doesn't look like just gelcoat to me. More pictures would help but it looks like the edges are not aligned ( at different levels. If so, it may be a serious structural crack probably caused by impact with a dock or the trailer winch stand or something else hard. It could also be a tension...

    Simrad NSS question

Based on three calls by my friend to Simrad, their position seems to be that if it is out of warranty (in his case that was 2 years) they don't do repairs. I tried looking up repair sites for Simrad but most of the hits took me to marine equipment suppliers who's sites had no mention of doing...

    2003 258 voyager rubber strap

That is what I used for my lockers. Although the strap and one fitting fit perfectly, the other end was a bit different and couldn't easily be adapted to the lid. I reused the original part. In other words, don't remove and throw out the old metal parts until you have checked the fit of the new ones

    Simrad NSS question

Update from my friend: Called Simrad again and was told that there is no battery in the unit. The unit being 5 years old is out of warranty and they do not repair them. he was told to buy a new unit:) Not such a great endorsement for the product line considering that it ran about $2,000 in 2018.

Grady white 265 express waste vent

Yes, there may be a clamshell fitting. If so, it will be near the tank and on the outside of the hull

electric trolling motor for adventure 208

Just note that the 'locker' forward of the porta potti location is used to drain any anchor locker water into the mid and eventually aft bilge. It should be no worse as far as moisture goes than the aft bilge

Grady White 228 Live Well Drain Hose Leaking into Bilge

It is possible that the fitting has cracked, especially if it is nylon or a similar material. It is also possible that it is loose. You need to take it apart to check

    Trailer adjustment

The center of gravity for that hull is a tad over 122 inches from the transom. The COG should fall close to the middle axle, a little forward perhaps for tongue weight bias. Measure your length from transom surface to middle axle. I am curious if there is any merit to the measurement approach

Livewell thruhull turns but doesn't open

Forgot to mention; the pump could be bad ( impeller shot) I also forgot to ask; Is there a dual output pump connected directly to the seacock fitting? If so the aux output fitting on the pump is usually for raw water washdown. If you have such a installation, it would help to do your test for...

Livewell thruhull turns but doesn't open

It may be easier to pull off the hose in the bilge and run water into the fitting/seacock. You will know for certain if the flow is normal, slow, or blocked. In addition, if there is gunk, the reverse water flow may help clear it out. Have you verified that when you turn the handle, the shaft is...

    Twist Latch

It's not a lock. It's just a flat piece of plastic with a hole in the center. It looks like the 'latch' for the anchor locker lid. The examples of latches shown above would be difficult to mount if possible. Other type of latches could work but would be overkill. Here is a draw latc that would...

    Correct prop size

The Yamaha gauge if the pitot tube type are inherently inaccurate. If you have the CL7 display and it is networked to your plotter, the speed is probably accurate. Since your motors are 2022s, the LU gear ratio is1.86 whereas the ratio for the f200 was 2.0. I would not assume that the props...

    trim tabs anodes

They are available in most marine supply stores as well as online sites. There are companies that see only anodes like Zink For Boats. You need to know what size you need. Bigger is not necessarily better. I do wonder what percentage of folks on this site who have trim tabs, have sacrificial...

Make one using starboard. ( A fried who does woodworking and a scrap of starboard) That said, it was used on so many Grady models and years, Grady probably would stock it.

    painting trim tabs

When I researched this several years ago, the Bennet site recommended an etching two part stainless steel primer followed by bottom paint. That may have been before the water based paints were available. Paint doesn't stick very well to stainless. In general copper based paints are a no no on...
