Unusual oil leak on thru hull?

Not sure of your year and model. You might wanna post that too :) If I hazard a guess, looks like hydraulic fluid

Keep 228 or move up to 282??

Ky, I'll take the bait...excuse the pun. In my mind, there is nothing about boat ownership that one can rationalize as a "need" unless you are using it to make money for your livelyhood. Justifying owning a boat is a totally different discussion. At the end of the day we all come to terms...

    Why a Grady?

Hey Jargon, I noticed this thread was started a while back. I did the same thing as you in the beginning, I followed the threads, but never piped up until last spring. My only advice is to consider a dual engine setup if you are going offshore. Maybe it's just me, but there is something...

    Kicker motors

Bob's your uncle on the dual binnacle. That setup and a Teleflex SeaStar Kicker Cable Tie Bar between the 2 engines and I would be so very happy!!

    Kicker motors

Well, couple of thoughts... What year is your 208? The newer Grady models have been re engineered for heavier 4 stroke engines so the scuppers aren't buried in the water. So listing might not be an issue for you. I like the kicker where I have it so when I am trolling with downriggers, it makes...

    2020 Yamaha F250 prop on 226

Yep, and I just edited my suggestions, as this is all very captivating to me :p

    Kicker motors

I have one battery on port, one on starboard right under the removable rear teak seat inserts. Mechanic who installed the kicker wired it right to the starboard battery. He asked me if I was okay with that first. The kicker's alternator throws back a lot of juice to the battery, so no issue...

    2020 Yamaha F250 prop on 226

No useful advice on my end, but CONGRATS on a spankin new engine!! Guess Santa doesn't come up the hill :p 1-I raised my scuppers 3" a few summers ago. However, they were both underwater. You are good there. 2-When I changed out the 17 degree pitch saltwater prop that came with my boat for a...

    Kicker motors

Plus 1 on the Adventure Marine bracket. I paid someone to do the engine and bracket install as I didn't want to make a snafu. Just noticing this is an older thread

    Kicker motors

I have a 9.9 Long Shaft High Thrust on my 228G, you can troll as slow as you care to. Caveat-if the wind is blowing behind you, then you are at it's mercy. In a good wind, my boat might go 2 mph without any assistance from the motor, that of course can be mitigated by trolling into the wind...

    Adding Auxiliary Tank

My old tank had rubber strips n wood wedges too. It was corroded where the rubber touched as well. So Grady used some type of rubber that contained carbon back in the day.

    Adding Auxiliary Tank

Sure, know the whole area well. I was just guessing by the houses in one of your pics. Hoping we can get out and fish together at some point. My older son is a Sophomore at UNR. Speaking of Sturgies, this is me 30+ years ago with a 6'er at the dock in San Rafael, caught this right off China...
