    When to have a Survey

If your financing the boat, a bank may require one. If you are unable to view in person or uneducated on what to look for I suggest a survey on a boat costing more money than you would feel comfortable putting in a pile and lighting on fire.

    Owners Manual PDF

As many here already know, Grady White offers PDF’s of all Owners Manuals. If your boat did not come with one or if you want a handy copy available on you phone or tablet, a copy is available for you at the below link. I use mine daily, lots of answers on those pages. Ps; this may have been...

    Sure Bail fuse?

15A is probably to large. My 99 226 uses 5A for both forward and aft floats. Over sizing fuses is bad practice and could cause major issues. Melted wiring, damaged switches/ equipment and god forbid fire have all been attributed to incorrect fuse ratings being used.

    228 Baitwell Aerator Addition

Depends on the fish. Sturgeon, striper, catfish and halibut will live out of water for hours. Lake trout and rainbows seem to die 5 minutes after you catch them. You could try a little portable battery operated pump with a hose and aerator stone and give it a shot.

    Voltage issue found

See there, told you I would be relying on your knowledge, I’m just a little hard headed. After looking again at the switches at the helm, I realized that the anchor light switch was on. Easy to do as it’s a three way with off in the center. Turning it off and like magic, I’m no longer wasting...

Swapped breaker this morning, 12.7V at battery and 12.5V at helm sub-panel. Looks like my work was a success. Sometimes it’s better to not overthink things.

    time for the bottom

I’m happy you are talking about antifouling bottom paint and not Davy Jones locker. From the title this thread could have gone a number of directions. :)

    Another Battery Question

It was at the store. It would be good to know what you have in the boat. I assume, less than 11V if it wont start the motor and a little additional draw kills the motor.

    Another Battery Question

Study up on quantum physics and a professor will be along shortly. That being said, I may have a few questions for the professors this weekend when I’m still chasing a short. Sound like a dead battery to me. Have you put a good charge on it. What’s the voltage of battery two now...

This is coming out. Tried to clean it up with contact cleaner and wire brush. Made a decision that 20 years was long enough. This is taking its place.

    Voltage issue found

My mistake, I was working when I was posting (or should have been). There was something drawing current. Not now since I cut out the breaker and lugs for replacement. Hopefully this will resolve my issue. But, based on your response, I will still have something drawing current with supposedly...
