    Voltage issue found

20yo non tinned wires on a saltwater fishing boat very well could be a problem And in my case are causing a high resistance dropping my voltage.

    Voltage issue found

Fluke 87 volt meter used. Nothing powered up. Battery switch on, 1. DC voltage checked at battery 1 posts and at subpanel at helm (other end of leads from battery). The voltage drop, and there always will be, was excessive. Corroded terminals on back of 40A breaker and wires are the...

Anyone set up a 228 for salmon fishing?

I haven’t used it for a downrigger yet, just for a rod holder. It’s not ideal for access but will work. With the 60” booms off the side and the rear one out the back, tangles should not happen.

    Folding motor dam removal question

I was told by an authorized Yamaha Tech. not to trailer with motor tilted all the way up and then he gave me one of these (Yamaha version). Seems to ride much better with motor down lower. Better for transom.

Anyone set up a 228 for salmon fishing?

I’m not sure. Need to measure the space available underneath the gunnel and then the bolt spacing.

    2015 Seafarer 226 - Thoughts???

The 4.2l 250 on the 226 is good for 44mph to 47mph or so. I hate these discussions because before their done there’s always someone saying their same boat with same motor does 5 - 10mph more than everyone else’s.

    2015 Seafarer 226 - Thoughts???

I was doing 65 with my 226 today. Had lots more in it but didn’t feel comfortable pulling the trailer that fast.

Anyone set up a 228 for salmon fishing?

12 to 15lb downrigger weights are typical for the ocean. Lake guys use 6 to 10 traditionally. I’ve seen torn up rod holders or more accurate, torn up gunnels on ocean boats that ran gimbal mounting. May be ok for the lighter weights. They do have rod holder backing plates that could provide...

    Grady White 228 Pilot House

That’s interesting that many Grady folks also considered the Parker before deciding on choice. I too looked at both the 2120, 2320 but an enclosed pilot house made little sense for my needs. The walk around did. I liked the thought of the 2310 but was never able to find one to checkout in...

    touch dome lights

Lumitec is so nice I’ve become addicted to them. I’ve bought more of their lights than I have places to install them. The spreader lights are second to none.

    Scotty Downriggers

I just bought a new 60” strong arm Scotty downrigger (manual) with swivel mount for fantastic deal. Think it was about $280. Nice to have a spare downrigger and manual takes much less space. Added a third base plate to provide even more options without having to add electrical. $500 for a...
