    Trying to calibrate new tach

Are you on 6P or 3P / 6C? Should be 6P for that motor.

But you have never seen this mix in the bilge

Outboard oil. Did you have a gallon container down there? It may have split. If not you need to check your tank....it may be split.

    2 questions, adventure 208

The new I4 200 will be about 100 lbs heavier....but you are also eliminating your 3 gallon oil tank and rigging which is probably 20 lbs or so...so figure a net difference of 80 lbs. If you want to see how the boat will float you can either (a) find a kid who weighs about 80 lbs or (b) buy 4 20...

I've seen a few older ones out there with F225s....GW rebalanced the boat and moved some weight forward starting in 2002. What is your current power?

Yamaha F 225 Dry Exhaust Corrosion Issue/ repower

Yamaha changed the materials and doing the updates seems to fix the problem. Plenty of these motors running around out there with 1000s of hours on them.

Yamaha F 225 Dry Exhaust Corrosion Issue/ repower

Welcome to the forum.... Generally speaking, the 02-04 F225s were the ones that had the issues. Not every motor had issues, and I've heard folks say (anecdotally) that they know of 2005 F225s that also had the issue. I wouldn't shy away from buying an 02-04 motor...just have the lower unit...

    Opinion

The 226 is heavier then you think. I owned one and took it to the scales...with a 200 HPDI, a hardtop, and 1/2 tank of fuel (roughly 50 gallons) it scaled out at about 6000 lbs. Even with the 800 lbs for the trailer, you are looking at a boat that weighs north of 5000lbs when you add fuel...

    Leaking hull 1998 Voyager 248

The deck scuppers are piped directly to the flaps and drain holes in the transom. Water in these boats typically finds its way in through the anchor locker, or through the inspection plates in the floor, or through the cupholders. If you are getting enough water in 20 minutes to kick on the...

    Acceleration problem

My experience has been that a fuel system problem will still be there after a restart. Electrical problems tend to come and go and a reboot or restart sometimes resets whatever was going on. Highly unscientific and based only on limited experience. As the expression goes, YMMV.....

    Acceleration problem

It's a 4 stroke (F250) according to his signature.... Given that it resets when you restart it, it sounds electrical to me....

Opinion: best trailer for 226 seafarer... Bunk or rollers?

Re: Opinion: best trailer for 226 seafarer... Bunk or roller GW is fine with either one... Depending on the tidal conditions at the ramps you will be using, one may be more advantageous. I am selling a 3 month old bunk trailer (custom) that is set up for any of the 22' Grady hulls....I have a...

    Pompanette chair glides

I replaced the slides, the springs, and the handles on a pair of seats last year. If I recall, the parts from my GW source were less than $40 to my door, including shipping. You have to disassemble the entire seat but it's not a difficult project...took me less than an hour to do both of them.

From the 1995 catalog, the deluxe helmchairs (with arms) were available as an option....they wouldn't have offered them if there wasn't room to squeeze between them.... http://www.gradywhite.com/customer/catalogs/1995

    Yamaha Gas Gauge

The sender is likely bad. Easy fix but getting the old one out can be a challenge. If the head is stripped, try gently filing a slot into it so you can use a slotted screwdriver. It goes without saying, but this is a job for either manual or air tools. The slightest spark from a power or...

Offshore fuel tank issues? Low speed stalling

Not sure if your mechanic is a certified Yamaha guy (or gal), but the LP pumps are an obvious trouble spot with these motors. And they are easy to check - 2 bolts to loosen and then squeeze the primer bulb and watch them. If fuel leaks out the back, the diaphragm is bad and the pumps need to...
