    New to me Grady

As someone who has owned several Owens trailers, I'd defer to Jeff. If he says you don't need it, then you don't need it. The one option I would request though, is the heavier winch stand and 2 speed winch. If you ever have to crank it on, the 2 speed winch will save your life. I learned the...

Hello and trailer selection help needed

Binky, be sure to check on the sales tax. FL has a form that can be filled out to exempt you from having to pay it there....you should be able to just pay it in WA. The form number is "DR-123". Your trailer dealer should be aware. You fill it out and it gets notarized. It goes in his file...

    Fuel Gauge

Also keep in mind that this is NOT a job to do with any kind of battery or plug in power tool. Either use a hand screwdriver or an air powered one. One spark and your day will be ruined....

Hello and trailer selection help needed

Have them swap the Tie Down brakes for either Deemaxx or Kodiak. Continental charges a small upcharge as the axles come from Tie Down with the brakes typically already installed. You will be happier in the long run.

2006 283 release water in fuel

I had the same issue with a late 90s 225 Tournament that I once owned... Water was getting past the fill cap...and yes - the o ring looked good. Rather then mess with the o-ring, I replaced the entire cap/vent unit and also added the plastic shim which GW began installing somewhere around 2000...

    1996 Seafarer - 225 HP

The max HP at the time was only either 240 or 250. It's a heavy boat....you can pull a skier, but plan to drop to a lower pitch prop if you are going to do so. Top end at max rpm will be 42-43

    Tach/Speedometer & Trim/Tilt change out

Tach and Speedo are plug and play as long as you buy the right ones. Don't buy CommandLink gauges unless you have a Command Link motor. Check with Andy (simyamaha.com) and he will take care of you. Trim switch in the throttle is not a big deal, but you will have to disassemble the handle.

Hello and trailer selection help needed

First - Congratulations on the purchase....you will love the boat. Both Sea Lion and Venture are lower end mass produced trailers....although Venture has a new lineup out - the Commander Series) that is supposed to be a bit higher end. Most of the custom trailer manufacturers (Sport Trail...

    First Grady, Winterizing question

Ring - Free as well as either Sta-Bil or (personal preference here) PRI-G. Drain the freshwater tank. Pull the prop...grease the shaft....reinstall. Fill the fuel tank. Remove the batteries and put them in your basement or somewhere else that stays reasonably warm. Charge them once a month...

    Transducer Replacement_1997 208 Adventure

I stand corrected on the "access panel"...I was thinking fold down electronics box.... In my experience (and I've done GPS/FF installs on a couple of 208s) getting through the rigging tube was not the hardest part of the job. Getting into the side of the E-Box was a miserable experience...

    Grady Fuel Tanks

Bob - CG? Are they that busy? I'm hearing good things about MB Atlanta Marine....might be worth a phone call and a plan to move it....

    OX66 Charging both Batteries?

Are you reading the voltage from the Yamaha multifunction gauge? I have always found them to be inaccurate. In my case I have the voltmeter in the HDS turned on. The tach can show low voltage but the HDS shows a higher number. I agree - find another voltmeter and check your voltage that way...

Best Stuff to use removing Boat Reg #'s

I use a razor blade and work slowly so as not to scratch the gelcoat. Acetone will remove the adhesive residue. Final step is to buff with Buff Magic and then put a coat of wax on it. That will remove most of the ghost effect. The rest will fade over time.

    gas tank 208 vs 205

If I recall ABYC specs allow poly tanks up to a certain length....after which Aluminum is the standard. GW may have chosen Aluminum for production reasons.

    Transducer Replacement_1997 208 Adventure

No access panel in a 208...which is part of the problem. 226/228s and up have the fold down e-box...you can easily access from behind.

    Grady Fuel Tanks

    http://www.rdsaluminum.com I used them....fair price...quick...tank arrives via UPS Ground.

    Transducer Replacement_1997 208 Adventure

If you can avoid cutting the cable, I'd make every effort to do so. Getting through the rigging tube on a 208 is the easy part. You can remove the panel below the throttle (about where your right foot is when you run the boat) to get to the rigging tube. The bigger challenge will be getting...

Ran out of gas, both engines will not start

Like Seasick said.... If these are HPDIs then no choke. Pushing in the key does nothing. Check your water separator/fuel filters. Is the primer bulb firming up when you squeeze it?

    Trying to calibrate new tach

At this point you know what your idle speed is....I'd put the boat in the water and while you are tied up at the dock with the motor idling turn the screw. One of the settings will get the idle RPM as displayed down to the correct number.
