New Trailer, Bunk Measurements for 272

5-7% is the range for tongue weight...I'm guessing the boat weighs 8-9K so I'd be looking at a tongue weight in the 600 lb area. x2 on calling GW...they will email you the PDF for the trailer specs.

best engine size for seafarer 228

Strikezone...yours is the second 225 OX that I have heard about that has blown....not sure why the other one blew but it is rumored to be a similar situation (water in the cylinder)...given that my "new to me" 225 has the same motor, I want to keep an eye on it. To the OP - I owned a 228 with a...

    Considering moving up - thoughts?

Even on the 22', the term "usable" is relative....I'm 6'3 and a few more lbs then you....it wasn't real comfortable. I found the cabin became a storage closet.....a good bimini worked just as well to keep folks out of the sun....hence my move to a DC....

    Considering moving up - thoughts?

A move up from an Overnighter to a Seafarer will net you the Sea V2 hull....marginally more space in the cabin....more space in the cockpit...and depending on whether you go 226 or 228 - the bracket. It's not too big for Lanier...I've run a 208, 223, 225 (twice), 226 and 228....when you get the...

Is 11 Years in Storage A Concern?

Welcome to the forum... Assuming it was stored inside, the hull is probably OK. I would have the fuel tank drained....replace the lines...and refill with fresh fuel before I did anything. For the motor, I would do the following... Remove spark plugs...rotate flywheel to make sure nothing is...

Interested in info on Seafarer 228G

Welcome to the forum. The 228 was redesigned in 1998 and continues as essentially the same boat as today. There have been some minor color revisions, cushion changes, and a relocation of the switch panel, but everything else is the same. From 1998-2001 they were usually rigged with either a...

    2000 yamaha ox66 fuel

Pennzoil XLF for the oil...have used it for years...it's half the cost of a gallon of Yamalube and - in my experience on multiple motors - smokes less. E-Free fuel if you can find it...I personally am diligent with Ring-Free and either Sta-Bil or Pri-G with whatever fuel I can find.

    Restoring the Floor Panel

I had an '86 190 Tournament...the same thing happened except it was to the in floor storage compartment/cooler. We removed the hatch, cut and epoxied a piece of marine plywood to the back of it, and glassed over it. Worked perfectly except the cover became heavy. I had to add a gas strut to...

Help, first time buying a new Grady!

If you are buying new - current model year - you will have to go to Spellman's. GW protects their dealers by requiring new boats to be sold through dealers who cover a specified geographic area. If you order one, I would guess 8-10 weeks...maybe longer. Another dealer may have one in stock...

How Do You Gents Replace Your Fuel Water Separator? Yamaha

Re: How Do You Gents Replace Your Fuel Water Separator? Yama I fire the motor up on the hose first....let it run for a bit, then shut it off and change the filter. After the filter is changed, I prime the bulb and fire it back up and let it idle for a few minutes...this ensures that the...
