    Is the Yamaha Gauge needed?

Here is an old forum post about dim displays. There is a post at the end that says that low voltage may cause dimness in theory. https://www.continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/002378.html BTW, have you purchased new polarized glasses recently:)

Persistent water intrusion in fuel 19.5 tournament

In general, if the flange is flat and all the screws work OK, sealant is not advised but it isn't the end of the world if you do. There are two things to pay attentions to: The sealant if used has to be suitable for gasoline, many are not. Secondly do not overtighten the screws. Doing so can...

Persistent water intrusion in fuel 19.5 tournament

Your gas tank could have had water for a long time unless you pumped it empty using the sender opening. The regular pickup sits above the tank bottom with about an inch of space. When the boat sits at rest the water is level but when you get on plane, the hull sits at an angle and the fuel and...

Persistent water intrusion in fuel 19.5 tournament

I am confused. Is the poly tank the one getting water? If so is that the original below tank poly tank? Why does water pool over the sender? Have you replaced the o-ring on the deck fill fitting ( is there an o-ring??) From where, did you pump out the gas that was half water?

To upgrade engines or Not to upgrade this is the question!

The fact that someone wants to trade 4s for your OXs tells you something and I am not sure it is a good thing. The 4s should have more value than the 2s especially since they are older. Having a motor sit for 20 years is not a good thing at all. I am a tad suspicious. I suppose it is possible...

    Is the Yamaha Gauge needed?

As long as you can display the more important info such as fuel level on your MFD, you do not need the gauge. Note that the speedo gauge gets speed info from the pitot sensor and not GPS. Your GPS is probably more accurate. In general you do not need the tach either but make sure that your MFD...

    ENGINE FLUSHING

It's more an issue of volume and not so much water pressure. Even if you have good flow at the faucet, the added hose will reduce the flow (and pressure). Using one of those expanding/contracting collapsible hoses will also reduce the flow. Sometimes 25 feet of hose works but 50 doesn't...

    Core Replacement Guide?

It seems like the repair work is new to you and you need to do more research. Take a look at Boatworks Today Youtube videos. Andy has some good videos on fiberglass work. I don't think you can do the project in one weekend for several reasons. More importantly, you won't know if you have...

To upgrade engines or Not to upgrade this is the question!

Two things come to mind; The 4s are heavier and mal adversely affect the way the boat sits in the water. Secondly, the new motors may be subject to the exhaust corrosion problem and should be checked out if you are leaning towards them. The OX motors have very little hours on them. That may not...

    12v refrigerator

The fridge could be DC only, AC only or a model that supports both modes. If it is dual power, there should be a breaker on the AC panel for it. You might be able to find the model number inside the box. Use that to look up the specs on the internet.

    Black mildew

I was referring to 303 Protectorant not the mold remover. Before using it, the cushions have to be washed and dried. It helps keep the vinyl from drying out and adds UV protection.

    Black mildew

I've used lots of products in the past and currently am using the Strabrite product. In many cases it works very well but in some. not so good. I have had good luck with Mold Away too but maybe not significantly better than Starbrite to justify the difference in cost. I use to swear by ZEP mold...

    yamaha 250 ox66 vs evinrude 300 etec

That's a pretty decent number. The ox motors are not known for great fuel mileage.

Did you look at the trailer before buying it? Did you ask what was recently serviced? Let the buyer beware.

    yamaha 250 ox66 vs evinrude 300 etec

That's an odd way to make a decision on a boat. You didn't mention condition or age of the two nor the motor model and age/condition Also remember that Evinrude is out of business and if you need service that might be an issue.

    OX66 Winky Blinky Expertise Needed

What is the 'control box' supposed to replace or bypass? Let's take a different approach. If the engine dies instantly, fuel starvation may not be the issue. Starvation usually leads to stuttering first. An exception would be a failure of the ECU to command spark In that case loss of spark...
