When you say that the motor was tucked, does that mean the motor was trimmed all the way 'down'? Did you try trimming the motor up a bit with no tabs?

Just to add: The plastic caps are fine for the water tank and are less expensive.

Could be a bad selector valve . I wouldn't think that is as likely as a problem with the fuel line between the valve and the tank or a problem with the tank pickup. Did you happen to notice when the motor died if the primer bulb was collapse or was it very soft?

It makes better sense to have them cleaned and tested. Replacing them will run about a grand for the parts. That said, if the motor runs great, I would not mess around with them

probably not. Did you check to see if you had a good ground as well as 5 volts on one of the three leads? The motor ignition has to be on but the motor does not have to be running

Did you remove the batteries for the off season? Or did you disconnect the battery cables? If so, you probably left off a negative jumper connection that bridges the negative terminals of the two batteries.
