228 G and 4 blade prop change results

Your results sound similar to mine, although I don't have a FM gauge (yet) to measure mpg. I went from a 13.25 x 17 Yamaha standard SS prop to a 15.25x17 Merc Mirage Prop. I can cruise comfortably now at 30 mph at 4000 rpm. 35 mph is 4500 rpm. Top speed is 42 mph at 5500 rpm. I also noticed...

Please help! Low oil warning will not shut off

Your port engine wouldn't have filled if it was already at the top line. If the starboard engine didn't fill, then it's likely the screen inside the tank. I just went through this about a month ago....$13 in parts, $62 in fresh oil, and $200 in labor but my tech removed both the motor and...

Please help! Low oil warning will not shut off

Take the cowling off, turn the key on, and wait 3 minutes to see if the engine tank fills. You can flip the toggle switch on the back of the power head and manually fill the tank as well. If oil isn't transferring between the remote tank and the engine, you will need to pull the remote tank...

    Low oil alarm

It's possible the filter may be clogged and the pump is filling the motor tank slower than it's burning the oil, but not likely. It's not a complicated system....when the float drops below a certain level, it tells the pump to send oil from the remote tank to the reservoir. If you are getting...

    Low oil alarm

Before you pull the tank, do this test: With the key on, toggle the switch on the back of the motor and see if the pump runs and the reservoir fills. If it does: The problem is not in the main tank and there is no reason to pull it. It may be the float on the engine mounted tank. Remove...

    Helm Chair Arm Rests

Many moons ago they were free but GW has since stopped replacing them. As Jim said, order direct from a GW dealer. I use either Vero Marine 772-562-7922 (ask for Boo) or Taylor Marine Center (302-422-9177).

    Naked AND Skinny

The early returns on the new Merc 150 4S are very positive.... I don't recall what you had on there before, but I'd go Yami again and save some $$$ since you can reuse some stuff. A pair of 200 HPDIs?

    192 gas tank sender depth?

One thing to remember is the WEMA senders have a designed lag as the float moves up and down. Don't be concerned about the delay between when you move the float, and when the number of bars changes. It keeps the reading on the gauge from going nuts as the boat bounces up and down.

    192 gas tank sender depth?

This is a 2 step job...first call is to GW customer service who will tell you the tank depth. The 2nd step is http://www.wemausa.com and order direct from them. You want one that is about an inch les than the depth of the tank, so when it reads E you have a bit of reserve. WEMA makes them for...

    208 Adventure on order - Electronic's question

You can do it one of two ways. You can remove the plexiglass door and have a piece of starboard cut to fit...which is what I did for my 225.... Looks like this: IMG-20120409-00012 by parthery, on Flickr I had my panel made at Fin-Addict Marine...I sent them the measurements and the...

Oil Level Indictor Is it Working??

Be very careful if you remove the cap and float from the motor tank. There is a fine mesh filter held on with a tie wrap on the bottom...if it's distorted, damaged, or works loose, it WILL get sucked into the oil pump. Bad things will happen to your powerhead in short order if that occurs...

What to look for in 22 Seafarer

Where is the boat located? Perhaps someone here can go take a look at it and give you a candid assessment. A survey is probably not a bad idea either, depending on how comfortable you feel after you crawl all over it. Used boats may look good, but things pop up. The key is getting an idea of...

    Grady/Yamaha combo

Congratulations on your new purchase. 1.) The buzzer can be tested by removing the safety harness (lanyard) and turning the key to start. If the buzzer sounds, it's working. 2.) Trim sender. Either the plastic cam which the trim sender arm touches is broken, or the sender itself is shot...

I'd put the sonic hub in the cabin so you can easily get to it. The Structurescan module can go in the e-box.
