To fog or not to fog OX66 250hp

It's a 2 stroke so the oil is added to the fuel for lubrication and is burned off. No oil filler/filters. An OX66 mixes the oil/fuel in the proper ratio using a separate oil pump at the oil tank. Only use Yamalube 2 stroke oil, in my opinion. You should really read the manual cover to...

To fog or not to fog OX66 250hp

I usually burn off the oil in the spring and then change the plugs after a few hours of running to ensure that all the oil fouling is finished. Can't hurt to oil thru the plugs holes as well as thru the intake. What's surprising is that the plugs really don't look that bad when they're changed...

To fog or not to fog OX66 250hp

in through the plugs hole works to oil up the cylinders, but I like going into the air intake to get the fogging oil into the crankcase to keep all the (expensive) parts coated with an oil film over the winter.

To fog or not to fog OX66 250hp

Mine were 2001 models as well. When you idle it down after seeing the smoke coming on, it doesn't take much to make it stall, so I sprayed each port quickly (maybe 2 sec squirts) side to side, top to bottom, it would slow down and I would spray again in the same pattern. This usually caused...

To fog or not to fog OX66 250hp

I used to have twin OX66 200HP motors (which were fantastic) and routinely fogged them for the winter. Took off the black air intake plenum which exposed the throttle plates. Careful when removing the screws that hold on the air intake. Run the engine at slightly above idle and spray in...

In the market for a 2005 265 Express. Have Questions??

I have a 2004 265, which I bought a year ago with 165 hrs on the twin F225. Love the boat. I bought it as a repo so the price I paid is artificially low but I did track down the original sales price (not list price) and it was $135K with most options except A/C and generator! Crazy expensive...

    Winterizing OX66

I've done it both ways- spraying fogging oil into the air intake on each cylinder or just into each cylinder through the plug hole. Never had an issue with the O2 sensor since it see the oil smoke in the spring either way. Going through the plugs hole is easier but the oil doesn't get to the...

    new 265 express owner

Congrats! I've had my 2004 265 for a year now and thoroughly enjoy it. It handles the rough stuff real well and is very dry. I suggest reading the many posts on the boat on this board- very helpful in understanding the boat. Please PM me if you have any questions. I installed all new...

    F225 Poppet Valve

Check this out from SIM Yamaha on replacement of the poppet (pressure relief valve) on an F225. It shows where it is and how to get at it. http://www.simyamaha.com/category_s/1987.htm

Yam Fuel Mgmt gauge with Raymarine C120W

Finally got it to work. For future reference for others trying to connect a Raymarine unit, here's what to do 1. split open the cable running from the speedo to the FMG but don't disconnect it from the speedo. 2. cut the red wire in two, leave the black alone, cut the white wire and strip the...

Yam Fuel Mgmt gauge with Raymarine C120W

My connections did not work. Ran the boat through the RPM range- no readout. I'll try Salinity's hook up with the red & black wires. Salinity- do you have a recent Raymarine C type unit?

Yam Fuel Mgmt gauge with Raymarine C120W

Thanks for the repsonses. I wondered about the speed- I'll crank it up tomorrow. Salinity- do you mean you left the black and red wires still connected to the speedo? I did not try that. Heard from Raymarine and they indicated the black wire needs to be connected to the NMEA - output...

Yam Fuel Mgmt gauge with Raymarine C120W

Tried to connect the NMEA output from my C120W to the Yamaha FM gauge instead of using the speedo input. 265 Express 2004 vintage, F225s. Here's what I did: 1. cut the cable from the speedo to the FMG and opened it to get the white wire free 2. checked the + NMEA output from C120 and it...

Help Find Old Post re: Stuck screws on 265 dash panel

Try to search my posts since I started a chain a while ago on this subject. I wound up trying two approaches- the simple plastic insert using black oxide SS sheet metal screws and a stainless steel threaded and knurled insert with black oxide SS machine screws. For the SS inserts, I also...

    Hydraulic Trim Tab Motor

I thought I had to replace my hydraulic pack when I sold my old boat and I search for a good price. Found these guys at around $220: http://www.baitnhook.net/bennett-v351hp ... --12v.aspx Turned out I had a bad ground wire so I did not need the pack, but these guys were great to deal with on...

    Props- 265 Express F225

I heard back from Grady and Yamaha and they both recommend the 19 pitch props. I did some additional testing and with the 17 pitch props, the engines rev right up to the limiter of 6100 RPM without trouble (180 gallons of fuel, 2 people, 2-3 ft seas). I have ordered 19 pitch props (Yamaha...

    Props- 265 Express F225

I thought about being over-propped but the Yamaha test with F225s was done with 19 pitch props. That's why I'm interested in what others have found- in the real world, not just in a PR test.
