    Props- 265 Express F225

Finally got my 2004 F225s straightened out and the boat runs great. I observed it will run above 6000 RPM- hitting 6200 is no problem. Also noticed that fuel economy and top end is nothing like the Yamaha performance sheet shows for the boat. Checked my props and they are 17 pitch, while the...

Water in my Gas Tank. From the fuel vent?

I had the same trouble in my prior boat until I replaced the vent connection with the one shown at this site http://www.marinesupplystore.com/store/ ... 386533-cj/ Here's the description: 90 P-Trap Fuel Tank Vent Fuel Tank Vent, 90, Black Plastic This low profile fuel tank vent helps...

Yea or Nay on Replacing the Gas

I just went through this on a boat I bought that sat unused for about 18 months. The issue wasn't the gas in the fuel tank, which was stabilized and went through new 10 micron Racors, it was the old gas sitting in the VST tank for the period. The old gas made sediment which plugged the little...

    M260 Transducer 265Express

I just installed a P79 (600W) in hull unit on my new to me 265. I have a Raymarine set up with a DSM300. I went with the less expensive P79 unit because I want to check out the location for smooth water and then install a B116 thru hull next year. The installation of the all new electronics...

    Auxilary Fuel switch?

Perhaps there's confusion on the use of the word "switch". On my 265, it's a three way valve that is turned to either the "main" or "aux" position. Someone might think it's and electrical switch, which it isn't- it's a valve. Hope that helps

    F225 not revving up

I finally got my new to me 2004 265 Express in the water for the first time since I bought it last fall. Great boat! While the engines (twin F225 with 160 hours) ran great with the starboard engine hitting 6000 RPM, port engine maxed out around 4600 RPM. I also noticed the port engine needs...

should bottom painting include bottom of engine?

A word of caution- don't paint the engine parts- bracket/lower unit- with copper bottom paint. The aluminum will be corroded by the copper. Use Tri lux or other A/F paints specifically intended for aluminum.

Concerned about F225 exhaust corrosion and oil seal problem

Re: Concerned about F225 exhaust corrosion and oil seal prob I bought the same motors on a 2004 265 Express last fall and had the same concerns. They checked out perfectly mechanically. I talked to three different repair places with Yamaha certified mechanics around Falmouth MA about the...

    Gunnel Rod Holders

They look outstanding! What did they look like before? Scratched, pitted, other corrosion? Mine are scratched pretty badly - 6 of them. I found a company in Fall River MA that will do them for $35 ea or more, depending on what condition they're in. Seems like a project just to get them...

    Transducer placement 265Express PartII

Yes, on the side of the pump is where I'm planning to locate the tducer. I located a thru hull tducer in the same place on my 26 Black Watch, which has essentially the same hull as the 265 and it would track the bottom at 50 mph. i think there's good water at that location.

    Transducer placement 265Express PartII

Over the weekend, I was laying out where to put the tducer on my 2004 Express and it must be different than yours. Both sides of the bottom next to the bilge pump are open; perhaps a space of 10" (side of the pump to the side of the shelf) x 16" (bow to stern). I do have the "shelf" you...

After a lot of searching the web, it turns out Defender is having a sale so I bought the Platinum Plus CF card for $166 plus $9 shipping. Not too bad!

    Gunnel Rod Holders

Are you getting them rechromed locally or are you sending them out? What type of place will do it? $30 seems reasonable. Please post pics!

    For 265 Owners

Izzip What are you going to use for latches? Are you bolting the piano hinge to the existing hatch cover and matching deck side? I'm thinking about doing this similar to what you've described.

    Gauge panel screw replacement

Thanks for the input and suggestions. I've been doing a lot more research on this and one thought is to drill out the hole in the FG slightly and put in a press fit SS threaded insert that has epoxy applied to its sides. The holding power isn't such an issue so it should work and then it's SS...

    Gauge panel screw replacement

I have a 265 Express and needed to get access to the fuse block to add a power lead for the electric head. As recommended on this site, I removed the gauge panel and the fuse block was then readily accesible. However, the SS machine screws that hold the panel down are screwed into an aluminum...

    Cracked Hull - 28 Release

When coring materials get wet, tannins can leach out. They are brownish red, so sometimes it can look like rust stains. I wonder if that's what you're seeing?

    M260 Transducer 265Express

I plan to install a in-hull tducer in my 265 once the snow goes away, so we should compare notes. I just got the boat and haven't opened the hatch so I'm not sure what we're in for. I think running the cables should be straightforward if there's enough elbow room through the hatch. I expect...
