    Ok....you all needed a chuckle;)

2 thumbs up for a dad spending time with his kid. Far too many leave it up to coaches, teachers, and electronics to take the place of parenting. We know at the very least he will have learned to fix a boat and trailer!:p

Just saying hello and an update

That is a giant win on the engines. Great to see things coming around.

Electrical changes needed to go from a single to twins?

Thanks all and for the diagram Vero. I think that's what I'm looking for.

Electrical changes needed to go from a single to twins?

The boat I'm looking at has shore power, so it has a dedicated house system (I would think). My guess is that it already has a separate starting system like I have in our Voyager - 2 batteries. Often when I have seen the wiring system on twin GW's there is a 2nd battery switch. I don't know what...

Electrical changes needed to go from a single to twins?

Yes, if that is how Grady would set it up.

Electrical changes needed to go from a single to twins?

I'm wondering more about power management/ distribution at the batteries to the alternators, etc.

Electrical changes needed to go from a single to twins?

If a boat was originally set up for a single, what differs electrically on a grady set up with twins? I would likely be going with a fly by wire set-up. Ignition switches are obvious, but what else is involved? As for the mechanical part, I think I have that down.

    Gulfstream 232 or Journey 258 ??

Trailer it - 258 Dock or rack it - 232 Fishing only would have me lean more towards the 232 also, but if you are doing a lot of water activities, the euro transom on the 258 is the better way to go IMO.

    Wildfire Destruction

Sorry for your loss. You are fortunate to have a nother place to call home. I wish you and your family well. I haven't tried this, but another potential option is carpet film. You can get it at Lowes in a large role for cheap. I would tape all edges for extra measure.

    270 Islander purchase?

The single 250 2-stroke got people into a bigger boat for a much lower price point. A 2 stroke could get the job done on the Islander but the early 225 and 250 4 strokes didn't have the mid-range hp of a 2 stroke. One could argue 4-strokes killed the Islander because twins were the only option...

Looks like you did well. Glad it worked out.

What do you tow your boat with?

Many people didn't believe me when I would tell them my truck only had a 2.7 and would haul a 248 easily including in the mountains, but it does. The 3.5 accelerates better at highway speeds and gets great mpg if I run 91+ octane. 2016 2.7 2018 3.5 BTW, I trailer with my fender out so...

    270 Islander purchase?

Looks great! Those damn flared brass thru-hulls are a joke and should never be used on a water sensitive composite IMO. One of the 1st things we did was pull those, seal the wood, replaced the fitting, and sealed around it. If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost to do the work on your boat.

    270 Islander purchase?

Thanks for sharing. Thankfully I have never witnessed a bilge with gel coat peeling like that. I would assume it has something to do with the moisture in the fiberglass and or delamination.?

    270 Islander purchase?

Transfueler, I'm curious, where did he look for stringer delamination? I too might be looking at a boat soon and I'm curious to know if he pulled the fuel tank cover, found it in the bilge, or elsewhere. Any photos you can share?

Anyone with a 282 on a bunk trailer?

Beautiful rig. Thank you for the details. 10'7" is more like what I had expected, but unfortunately about 3-4" too tall.

Anyone with a 282 on a bunk trailer?

Thanks for the offer RR. I was considering a 282, but height on the trailer might be an issue. One member guessed 12 at the windshield, but that just seems too high. I would think that would put the hardtop at 13'6". If you can get a measurement and let me know what kind of trailer it sits on...

    Be prepared before you launch

Looks like Donzi Dude has unknowingly entered the Darwin Award contest. Sometimes I think there should be a warning sign at every boat ramp stating society hasn't successfully managed to sue waterways to the point they are as safe as the civilized world. Then I come to the reality that no one...

240 offshore to 268/270 islander have some questions...

Much like a car pushing through the air, the cross sectional area of the hull pushing through the water has a greater impact on performance than length. I have not seen a report of a 265 cracking 1.8-2.0 mpg.

240 offshore to 268/270 islander have some questions...

There is a 268 out there with twin df200's. Owner states 51 mph wot, 2.3 mpg at 30 ish mph cruise.
