Removing aux tank on 1999 268 islander

I agree that the GW models with the short hulls perform better with less weight out back. Put 4 200 lb guys near the helm on the Voyager and it devours chop. Move 2 of those guys to the back seat and things get a lot bumpier.

Removing aux tank on 1999 268 islander

Taking into consideration the fuel efficiency improvements of late model engines compared to what your boat came with, losing that tank and the extra fuel weight probably won't put you too far off from the range your boat had when new.

    fender foolishness

Careful folks. The rear wheels of the truck have started to spin on the slippery ramp... er, slope.

    Losing RPM

I've been boating the south shore of Erie for 40 years. I've never seen the boats on the lake as thick as they are now. Monday we drove back from the islands and by South Shore Marine (one of the country's biggest GW dealers) and there was not a single boat outside for sale. Long waits for...

Top of the hardtop or top of the windshield? 12' to the top of the windshield sounds too high.

    268 Islander info needed

Arguably the best option for the 268 with the short running surface is the Mercury 150. It is as light as the old 2 strokes, makes an actual 162 hp, and is a full 3 liters of displacement. Member barclyr did this repower and has details here and on THT. The only downer of the Mercury is no...

Running surface difference, 244 Explorer vs 268 Islander

Ask GW customer service for diagrams, then you will know exactly what to expect. Cabin is likely bigger on the 268 and has more head room. Deck space is probably similar or less.

    Any 248/258 with single 300 hp ?

If you are looking for fuel burn and speed at specific engine rpm, email GW. They have this info available. Another option is to look at freedom 255 numbers. They wont be too far off.

    Grady 226 tow vehicle

I think you would be much happier with the Silverado also. If you look at the stats, the Colorado diesel is a dog unloaded and significantly worse with a load. The Silverado should be much better. Merging and passing with a Colorado diesel will be stressful at best.

Thanks. They look even better in person. Quality seems impressively good, especially for the price. I'll let you know in 5 years if it holds up!

    Need a plan

For you to sell or trade them, someone will need to determine what is wrong with them. Unless I missed something, any work done to them was rushed to fix what was perceived to be wrong. Water cooling isn't rocket science. A decent mechanic should be able to trouble shoot the issue and find all...

    pull 268 Islander fuel tank

I hate to say it, but if a guy with your skills is asking this question, most who will ever need to do this are screwed! LOL! I wish you luck and I'm curious to see what you come up with.

Grady White 247 Advance Tow Weight?

I've towed our 248 thousands of miles with a 2.7 and a 3.5 ecoboost f150. Both have tow packages and both tow easily. Your weight guess is spot on with a trailer. Keep your tongue weight around 420-500 lbs for trailering blis.
