    New props

If there is a casting mark, or any distinctive mark on the hub, or the prop housing, make an aligning mark in the other piece. If no mark, then mark both. You can look at them anytime, and say yes or no to prop slip. Don't know if materials or methods have changed, but in 40 years, I may have...

    Electric Reel Outlets 305 Express

Don't know what brand you are using, but maybe some wiring info here. https://elec-tra-mate.com/ If not, you can call, and probably have the owner answer the phone. Very friendly and helpful. Carl, IIRC

    TAKING ON water

If you really think it is a leak from a through hull fitting, you might want to install a counter, to see how often the pump cycles, when left in the water...

    How does beam affect ride?

Definately. FWIW, I never rode on a 228 before I bought mine, either, but I had the same hull in another boat, it was used, and it cost less than 10% of a new Marlin ;)

    How does beam affect ride?

What he considers a rough ride in a Marlin might not be the same as your impression if you were his passenger. How many hours/days have you spent in a Marlin before ordering one? To answer your question, beam itself is not as critical to a smooth offshore ride as deadrise is. Parker makes a...

It was neither offered, nor presented as "expert advise", it is the internet, and most of us are adults. If there is a level of expertise required here, please define it, along with your own. There was a sentence that preceded your abandon ship point................"One thing that I’ve realized...

I can’t believe this guy sold 48 of them for $66.89. That’s what happens when people don’t know how to Google. At least they got free shipping, lol...

    Portapottie lock downs

That one broke, I super glued it back together, then filled it with five minute epoxy. Couldn’t pull it apart by hand, but I replaced the toilet before I ever used it.

Like this? Sani Pottie part #310067. I bought one last year, but never saw them half this cheap. https://marinesan.com/latch-assembly-white/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIk_Hjp9qU9QIVgaGGCh3vdACFEAQYAyABEgJk5_D_BwE https://www.defender.com/pdf/500255.pdf

    Enclosure storage

It is called awning track, awning rail, or Keder rail. When i needed some, I called a few local awning companies, and was able to buy 20 foot aluminum track for a couple of dollars/foot, and no shipping. One had a pile of used for free, but new was cheap, closer, and easier to work with.

    Backing plate for planer rod?

Put your biggest rod, with braid, with the max drag that you will ever use, in the rod holder. Have a friend 30-40 feet behind the boat jerk and pull as aggressively as he can, and see how it feels with your hand on the bottom or the rod holder, under the gunnel. A straight rod will stress the...

    new to boating-

12 feet will probably be okay for that boat, but you will measure before you buy, or build, won't you? Everything goes up with door height, wall height, roof height, co$t$, etc. And costs accelerate once you get above 9 feet. Also, if in a subdivision, your HOA may have restrictions...

    Anchor locker overboard drain

Can you post a picture of top and bottom sides of where the drain hole is in the locker? It is going to be a low/slow flow, unless you stuff the bow, and even then. The solution could be as simple as something like a funnel below the hole, with a hose to a gravity fed through hull. Or, you could...

You can call the Grady White factory, in North Carolina, at 252-752-2111. Ask for Customer service, or the tech desk, and they are very helpful at answering anything you might ask. They have a good history of everything they have built, going back quite a few years.
