    Getting ready for the Keys

In spite of COVID we are going to Key Largo this coming weekend. Been planning the trip since September. We have done a lot work on the boat and today I used the EZ lube spindles and removed the old grease and put in new. Yesterday I put in a new hub and Kodiak stainless caliper , bled the...

    Grady-White Closing

The 190/191/192 all have been in Grady's fleet for a long long time. The margin in a 192 is not as great as a bigger boat that's for sure. They make a ton of money selling just one Canyon 456 versus selling a 192. However, they will sell more 192s I would imagine than their flagship Canyon ...

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

I run in all sorts of places . In the Keys in Hawk Channel or the Gulf side you get shorter chop seas. On the Gulf you get it to up in the panhandle. In those conditions I look for the sweet spot by trimming the motor and hull with the tabs. My wife doesn't like water coming over the bow...

Thinking about air ride seats for my 228

The 228 really likes the 25-30 cruise speed where it is also the most comfortable in 2-3 foot seas. The only time I run 40 plus Is the lake.

What do you use to clean and wax the gelcoat? And the floor boards?

I use Collinites on the gel coat, Woody wax on the deck and if you want scuff marks off of the hull you can use acetone. Know this though, it will strip all wax off the hull. It will get scuff marks off of the hull though.

Oh the places we have gone

Boating is a calming force in my life. It has bonded me with my boys in particular. Kyle loves being on her and going fast and Cole is now at age where he is helping me fix her. He is also at the age where when we fish he knows his job and does it. The Grady is cement in my life and I mean...

    Wiper blade saga continues

Hi Guys, I need some guidance . I called Grady who then directed me to a company called Wexsco who then directed me to a company called Autotex Wipers. Turns out in my model year (08) that they only used these blades and arms for a short period of time. I don't know where I can find...

My new to me 2004 265 Express

Congrats. I went out in June on a buddy's 265. It's a spacious boat. We caught some dolphin. I really liked the fish box location and it's size. The only thing took some getting used to was how when on auto pilot , coming in on a following sea the boat would catch a wave and want to surf it...

    New owner

Congrats! Those 3.3 liters should turn 6K RPM without a problem. The RPMs seem low. Could be the props, could be the trim of the motor, or it could be you just have a more weight? I had that motor on my boat. I got 6100 RPM if you had a light load, the the curtains up and the motor trimmed...

    Looking for ICW tips

I can't help you because I never navigated north of the sound.. I have traveled the ICW near Wanchese. It was fine a couple years ago. I have long wanted to boat through the Dismal swamp . It's pretty from the pictures. I have read some Great Looper threads in THT and it appears in places your...

My boat is at that age

This fall I am pulling the live well. It's really the only way to access the bilge pump and all that stuff. I would be happy to share that experience. I am a safety freak so I want to replace stuff on the land and not have to use my epirb and sea tow out in the ocean. Lol.

    Listing to Starboard

Well as a matter of fact ,;-), my Grady spends much of her days trapped in Fontana Lake of the Great Smoky Mountains. You really feel the list underway there. A big day on Fontana is when a west wind kicks in and you get 1 foot lake chop! Lol. You are right though, in the ocean it's really...
