    Battery Charging: Marlin 280

This is a good time to review exactly what you have back there and fully understand how it all functions. Ideally you have a 3 bank set up with a bank to start each engine and a bank for house equipment. Wired with battery switches in such a manner that each bank can perform the duties of the...

    autopilot

Now that we are here in Fl full time will be fishing a lot more. Often with just me and the captain (my wife). Starting to look at autopilots for making trolling easier. 280 Marlin, twin ox66 250. Looking at Raymarine Evolution ACU 150. Would like some advice please. thanks

    Cruising RPM's?

We were out offshore the other day and it was flat as a pancake on the return so I thought I would open her up and burn some carbon. 4900-5000 rpm, 39 mph and 40 gal per hour fuel burn. Boat ran great, but burned almost twice as much fuel per hour for that extra 10mph. I will stick with my...

    Cruising RPM's?

280 marlin ox66 250 yamaha 2 stroke best trim seems to be 3800 rpm getting around 22 gal per hour burn and 30 mph cruise. trimming properly makes huge difference is fuel burn.

    transom knee pad

I pulled the fold down seat and short piece of coming from the transom of my 280 Marlin. It currently looks like someone had target practice with their 22 using the transom as a backstop. Looking to put a padded knee rail across the entire cockpit side of the transom. Thinking of using a...

    2001 330 Express Wiper Blade

brought mine to local auto parts store and matched them up with something compatible. i think i had to drill the hole on the blade out a little and replaced the small stainless bolts that attach it to arm. working fine

Storing Batteries on Concrete? Yeah or Nay?

I avoid picking up lead in any form whenever possible. Thus in place if able (almost always) fully charged and on a maintainer/sulfinator

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

well that settles that. no bladder and no barrel, soo... 300 gallon of tank, prob cant put more than 280 in and cant burn last 20, that leaves 260 to use. never want to be less than half, that leaves 130 to use at 0.83 gallon per mile trimmed to perfection. usable range of about 150 miles...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

trips from new jersey to the canyons were few and far between, but did see the rare large center console with a 55 gal blue drum strapped to the transom. assumed it was gas. the idea of a pillow bladder with gas in the cockpit seems scary to me.

    Battery Charger question

Hum... Seems to me 4 batteries and I assume twin engine would have a set up of following 3 banks bat 1 start one engine, bat 2 start other engine, bat 3 and 4 house with switches and wiring to mix and match as needed the new 3 bank charger would fit right in just a thought

    Red button breaker

I use suggested breakers to add high amp circuit to back of my trucks for receiver wench. Paid 20 bucks for my last 150 amp model on amazon. Place them under hood close to battery. Strongly agree with Seasick about potential for short on boat, if I were to use it I would put in small project box.

    Throttle cables

Had the control and cables replaced on my 92 280 marlin. At that time hydraulic steering lines were copper. Must have knicked a line during fishing the cables and susquently had hydraulic fluid accumulating in the bilge, which then neccesitated replacing the copper lines with new flexible...

    Working on a golf cart...

When we bought the house in Florida I was driven to get a golf cart. Little old lady in the neighborhood had a older but great shape club car electric with dead batteries. Felt bad she had burned out 2 sets of Trojan batteries in just a few years from over charging. The guys at the battery...

    ProMariner 20-amp 3-bank charger

do not understand some of the logic in battery set ups in the posts above. seems logical to me that each bank should have a dedicated use, ie if 3 banks and 2 engines (very common set up) or 2 banks 1 engine also common then one bank to each engine and one bank for house. bat switches could be...

    Replacing onboard charger

ditto what seasick said. house and starter together could lead to problem if something is left on and drains battery. could be dealt with if happened with bat switches but not ideal. my set up is 3 bats, starboard start, port start, house with 3 bank 30 amp promariner distributive charger...

Best battery tender for the winter?

Agree with battery minder usage. Excellent to maintain, and may rejuvinate/desulfate if you believe that is real ( i do). If batteries are in same state of charge, age and capacity they could be maintained in parallel with one unit if properly connected. As for pulling batteries, if not to...
