    Battery Set Up

John: Welcome to the forum! I'm no battery expert, but I'll share what I think I know. You can turn the switch selector from '1' or '2' to 'both' while underway because there is (or should be) a continuous connection in your switch. However, I never take that chance. Should you inadvertently...

    spirit 175 scuppers

No - I don't recall seeing any significant amount of water coming in. And I think I would have noticed because when we were shopping for the next new Grady, I remember some reports about the 228 having some puddling, and I remember thinking that we don't have that now in our 175. I suggest...

    spirit 175 scuppers

Hello and welcome to the forum! I had a 1992 Spirit 175 with a 1992 Johnson 90, weighing 320 lbs. I don't recall ever seeing water come in through the scuppers. Maybe the Yamaha 115 weighs a bit more? Rob

    250 yamaha or suzuki ?

827 hours on my F250 and it has been perfect. Never owned a Suzuki, but I expect they are also very good. But Yamaha has never given me a reason to try anyone else. Rob

    Fuel Mgmt retrofit

Your GPS manufacturer may also have a fuel flow 'plug-in'. Garmin just came out with their GFS-10 which costs about half the Yamaha guage you're looking at. I suspect other manufacturers will follow. Rob

Repower from EFI 250 to F225 Due to the cost of Fuel

Bobcat: Other marlin owners will answer your question. I just wanted to point out that the F250 costs nearly the same as the F225 and gives a fair amount more power in the mid-range. Weight is alo nearly the same. Draw back is F250 requires 89 ocrane while the F225 requires 87 octane. By...

    Stowaway for the Bimini Top

Jake: You should be able to replace the aft Vista top straps with aluminum poles and let that hold the top up, but folded. It will have some side to side motion in it though. Or you can mount the GPS antenna on your transom cap (that is where mine is) and you should be able to move the VHF...

    Fishbox Partician

If I recall correctly, that partition was also sized to fit a 5 gallon bucket on one side. Rob

    compartment whats it for?

Are you saying you have three under-gunwale racks on one side and no racks on the other? Doesn't sound like it came from the factory that way. Can you post a picture? Rob

    switching engines for 257

Lewes: Grady says our transoms don't have the reinforcement needed in that one location to support the torque or weight of an F350. I asked. The 2008 boats have additional bracing. That 275 is a nice boat. I especially like the hard top. Rob

    Fresh Water Shower

And if those ideas don't pan out ... I thought my water tank was full once because it was overflowing. Turns out there is a sharp turn in the filler hose, and if I don't get my supply hose past it, then the water just shoots back out giving the impression that the tank is full when its not.

Hello New member, need opinion on boat purchase

Super: I suspect that the 250 will get you up on plane okay but top end will be limited to probably high 30s (mph). Comparing the boat you're looking at with my own 258, the 1995 268 is listed at 4200 lbs, where my 258 is 4300 lbs. The 268 is 2'2" longer, but the running bottom is only 24'...

    F250 Question...

Yes, I believe that is normal. When I asked, the answer was something along the lines of the lower unit fluid still moving around in the 'bullet' even though engine is not in gear.

    2005 228 -225HP vs 2006 250HP ??? Yam 4 strokes

Rorkin: For what it is worth, I have 805 hours on an F250 and it has been perfect. I test drove a 228 with an F225 and I thought it was plenty of power for that hull. I did notice that there was a short time where the tail end 'squatted' a bit before coming up on plane. I attributed this to the...

    2008 Tournament 275 pics

Wow. Pretty boat. I really like what looks like great sun protection offered by that hard top. I'm curious if you think you could work a fish around that boat - mostly the forward top supports - by yourself? Tx, Rob

    180 vs 209

F18: Welcome to site and congratulations on a first post. I'll offer my related experience. Our first Grady was the Spirit 175. It was 17'5" and it was the precursor to the 17'10" Sportsman 180. We had great times on that boat, including two crossings to Bimini. Second boat was a 208...

    advance 257 with F250 performance

Officemn: I do see the part about tracking. My boat has a small list to port while accelrating to get on plane. Dealer says it is prop torque. Easy enough to balance with trim tabs. I imagine docking would be a bit easier with twins as well. Rob

    advance 257 with F250 performance

GW: I've got the 258 with a single F250. Same hull but in a walkaround configuration and a bit more weight. F250 puts boat up on plane easily. Optimum cruise for me is 4000 rpm which gets me 27 mph with full fuel and I'm getting 3 mpg in calm water. Wide open is 6,000 rpm, running at 42 mph...
